9. Kiera Hogan (Igniting The Hottest Flame)
One of the prime examples of long term experimentation & devotion on Impact’s roster paying off. Kiera Hogan’s done nothing but improve since she joined Impact Wrestling back on August 17th 2017, being used mostly as a “plus one” in other superstar’s rivalries or storylines, most notably Allie, Rosemary & Su Yung alongside being dominated by the likes of Taya Valkyrie or Tessa Blanchard with any bursts of momentum in between being short lived, it would take a match between Rosemary & Kiera Hogan on May 3rd (which ended with Rosemary being placed back into a casket by Su Yung & returned to the Undead Realm) to final see Kiera’s patience at being the baby face & an easy target was slowly cracking, but apart from a short lived rivalry with Jordynne Grace, Kiera Hogan‘s Heel turn still wasn‘t delivering or living up to a lot of fan‘s expectations.
Impact has now made their inconsistency pay off, literally using it to add more fuel to the fire. When Tasha Steelz joined the roster on May 19th 2020, Kiera Hogan instantly decided they should work together (breaking away from her short term build with Madison Rayne), to tear apart the division that had given her so little in return. Starting with Kylie Rae (who had already beaten Tasha Steelz when she’d arrived) & Susie, this rivalry would go back & forth, disrupted by Rosemary, Taya Valkyrie, Kimber Lee or Deonna Purrazzo & for a short time, to fan’s disappointment all attention drifted away from Hogan & Steelz & was diverted to building up tensions between Taya Valkyrie, Kylie Rae & Deonna Purrazzo. As we drew closer to Bound For Glory, Havok & Nevaeh would be regular opponents of Impact’s biggest antagonists but everyone’s patience was rewarded when after months of speculation, the Knockouts Tag Team Titles finally returned.
Cementing herself as an extremely entertaining Heel character & making the team of Fire ‘n’ Flava a huge success story, it’s no surprise that Kiera Hogan would finally be rewarded for her performance over the last 3 ½ years when alongside Tasha Steelz she had beaten Havok & Neveah to become the 1st Impact Knockouts Tag Team Champions since Eric Young & ODB had their run vacated & scrapped by Brooke Hogan (daughter of Hulk Hogan) in 2013 & the titles were then disbanded. Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz would win the titles again at Under Siege, leaving a massive rift between former champions Jordynne Grace & Rachael Ellering… just as they did with Nevaeh & Havok. But, you play with fire, you get burned, to quote Kiera, Hogan, “PeriodT!” (Tasha Steelz’ “Brrrrup” echoes in your ears)…
