10 WORST SummerSlam Matches
The dark side of Summer’s biggest event
4. The Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalez (SummerSlam 1993)
We’ve already spoken of how 1993 fell way below the standard of previous events and yes, this is further proof of that.
You likely know about this match taking place and objectively being the worst WrestleMania match The Undertaker ever wrestled. Evidently seeing the first bout as a resounding success, they did it again at SummerSlam. With more bumps and with a No DQ stipulation (billed as a Rest In Peace Match), it was better than their original – which is like being the best Sharknado movie.
There was a Paul Bearer run in where he came out with a black wreath and clotheslined Gonzalez’s manager Harvey Wippleman and reclaimed the urn the former Women’s champion had stolen. In the end, The Undertaker won with that classic finisher of his: the top rope clothesline. I guess he couldn’t hit a Tombstone at the risk of making the Argentinian look actually good.
Gonzalez then turned on Harvey, hitting a Chokeslam that looked like it was about 3 feet off the ground. Gonzalez was supposed to start a face run here but left the WWF with this as his last significant match for the promotion.
