25 WWE Dream Matches that never happened
21. Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs. Goldberg
Other than being two bald-headed S.O.B’s, these two have reasons to battle (or at least in the eyes of the fans).
Whilst Austin was the face of the WWF in the late 90s, Goldberg was ‘Stone Cold’’s equal in WCW. Both protected wrestlers who barely ever lost (especially cleanly or decisively), many think Goldberg was a precursor to Austin, accusing him of ripping off the once ‘Stunning’ athlete. After all, he was bald, jacked, had black attire, had a striking signature move in the Spear and had a goatee. Austin was definitely around at Goldberg’s debut with ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ growing significantly in popularity in 1997 just prior to Bill’s domination of the World Championship Wrestling roster.
As two of the largest competitors in these clashing companies, the Invasion angle did not see Bill signed until much later, at which point Austin was in a General Manager position. It seems the closest we will ever get to a match is ‘Stone Cold’ acting as referee for the disastrous Goldberg vs Lesnar match at WrestleMania 20, after which Austin stunned Goldberg.
