WWE returned to Madison Square Garden after long time and the New York crowd was so hot throughout the show. Here are the five biggest takeaways from one of the best episodes of Smackdown this year.

5. No Owens, No Morgan, No Corbin

Last night’s Smackdown was one of the best episodes of the blue brand of this year, but what surprises us is that there was no Kevin Owens or Happy Corbin, no Liv Morgan or Zelina Vega. They didn’t even mention them throughout the show which was a letdown as Owens/Corbin and Morgan/Vega are having an ongoing rivalry.

Reports came out that WWE have to cut the show short due to shortage of time and Corbin and Cena appears in the dark segments after the show.

4. Big E’s tease for Cash-In

After Big E won the MITB briefcase his booking is just directionless and he is not feuding with anyone as of now. He was just being a part of multimen tag matches from the past few weeks.

It was pretty interesting to see him cuts a promo about cashing in his briefcase on Reigns or Lashley. Even in a backstage segment, E once again teased Paul Heyman with his briefcase which was a delight to watch.

3. Is Edge is really injured?

After the classic encounter between Edge and Seth Rollins at SummerSlam. We saw another instant classic between these two icons. Match was stellar and they craft the storytelling so well that even a non wrestling fan can enjoy this match.

But the end of the match was pretty heartbreaking for many of us fans because Rollins superkicks Edge several times followed with a devastating Curb Stomp onto the back of Edge’s surgically repaired neck. Edge was motionless after the match and the EMT take him out of the arena on a stretcher, even Rollins looked worried after the match. Is Edge really injured or it’s just a set up for their third encounter at Extreme Rules? Let’s wait and watch.

2. Demon King is here!!

Last week Reigns successfully defended his Universal TItle against Finn Balor in a stellar match. But what happened after the match was a surprise, WWE teased the return of Demon Balor. This week’s we finally saw the return of Demon King who confronts Reigns to close the show. Now it’s clear that Reigns will defend his title against the alter-ego of Balor at Extreme Rules.

1. The Beast challenges The Tribal Chief

FInally we reach at the talking point of the entire episode of Smackdown. Brock Lesnar made his return and challenges Reigns for the title. Lesnar threatens Heyman as well which adds a unique twist into this storyline.

When Lesnar gave 5 seconds to decide, Heyman legitimately looked scared and The Bloodline tries to get the upper hand on Lesnar, but The Beast just destroyed The Bloodline as Reigns retreats.

Most likely this match will happen at WWE’s Saudi Event Crown Jewel, but how WWE will book this match will be a treat to watch.
