5 former talents that IMPACT missed the boat on

Impact over the years have had a knack of building talent very well and creating brand new characters. We’ve also seen wrestlers enter the company (at any incarnation) who may be very green, however in time they can be near a title through Impact helping them and giving them the platform and time they need to improve.
However as with so many wrestlers we see that have success in the company, there’s always a few that often feel like they could have offered so much more before they were released. Whether it’s due to being placed in story lines that were just not suited to them or coming into the company at the wrong time? Impact currently with the work they’re doing could really make some of the past talent that never made it really feel special. Let’s have a look at a few
5. Andrew Everett
Everett was with Impact for close to 3 years and sadly within that time he never seemed to get any momentum or direction. He was placed mainly in the X Division but didn’t manage to win many matches and in multi man matches or elimination matches, he would often eat the pin or be the one to be eliminated first.
Everett spent some time in the Helms dynasty with Trevor Lee (and later Caleb Konley), however this never lead to much for him. It wasn’t until the end of his run that he really found success teaming with DJZ as Z&E where he would win the Impact tag team titles and begin to get some momentum and direction, However even here the records still sadly show that they only held the Tag Titles for 2 days which kind of summed up Everett’s run with the company.
For someone who held the nickname “The Skywalker” and had so much promise, it was such a shame that he was only ever used to put other wrestlers over when he himself had so much to offer. Impact are looking to expand the X Division however it’s always great to keep the foundation there and not forget what put it on the map and Andrew Everett is a perfect person to put in that position.

Andrew Everett, Jesse Godderz & Joe Hendry definitely on my list. Everett not winning the X-Division Championship at least once is just as much of a surprise (and let down) as Jeff Hardy not doing the same.
Jesse Godderz was stuck in the same boat as Eddie Edwards going solo, Billy Corgan had guys like Aron Rex & Mike Bennett leapfrogging the homegrown talent & Godderz just got lost. He even had James Storm & Bobby Lashley saying that he was main event & World Championship material.
Joe Hendry was fantastic. Been a huge fan of his prior to coming to Impact & seeing him going no further than Grado & Katarina was a disappointing use of such a charismatic megastar. He could have done with some extra moves in his arsenal though, but Sonjay Dutt busted his ass putting him over on commentary.
While I don’t loathe any of these people, the fact that none of them have done much post-Impact is very telling. Maybe THEY missed the boat.
