At Hard To Kill in January 2021, we saw Impact Wrestling reintroduce the Knockout Tag Team titles. The tournament which lead up to Hard To Kill was built up incredibly well and Impact made it feel like winning the belts would be a big deal. During the tournament we also saw a good number of teams involved and all of them felt like they had a chance of winning.
Since then we mainly saw Fire N’ Flava take on Havok and Nevaeh and then Jordynne Grace and Rahael Ellering throughout the first half of the year (up to Slammiversary). After this we saw Decay take over the reigns of Knockouts Tag champions for the second half of the year, they would go into matches/feuds with Tasha Steelz and Savannah Evens, The Influence, The Undead Brides and the now current champions The IInspiration.
Impact throughout this year have done a fantastic job at building the division up from nothing, they have 6 Knockout tag teams and only one of those have been brought in, 5 have been created by Impact. You feel that there is still more that Impact can add to the division however, one or two more teams could easily benefit the Knockouts Tag Team division.
With Impact announcing the Knockouts Ultimate X at Hard to Kill, many of the names who have been announced for that match are Knockouts in a tag team. With this it doesn’t leave many teams for the tag team division itself, hence maybe one or two more could really benefit. Let’s have a look at a few teams who we could possibly see in 2022?
5. Chelsea Green and Tegan Nox
Since coming into Impact at Rebellion Chelsea Green has been very prominent on Impact TV. She has been a big competitor for The Digital Media Championship as well as a focal point in the main event scene along side Matt Cardona. Chelsea has shown every time she comes out to the ring how popular she is, she has also never looked like going for the Knockouts Tag Team Titles, however with recent news, it could happen?
With such a heavy babyface as Chelsea Green on the roster, Impact could bring in a former WWE released talent in Tegan Nox to be a pretty perfect partner? Nox made a name for herself on the independents before appearing in the Mae Young Classic in 2017, she signed shortly after. Being from Wales Nox brings that British strong style to her game as well as the added abilities of no limits we see today.
If you’re looking for the ultimate babyface Knockouts Tag Team, this could very well be it. Both are great at connecting with the crowd, both have spent more of their careers as faces so they know how work their persona’s incredibly well. This would give Chelsea a more focused direction possibly and would also bring a fantastic “Welsh” talent into Impact Wrestling. May be a stretch, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
