2. Mercedes Martinez and Masha Slamovich
Back in September, Impact Wrestling held Knockouts Knockdown. This was an overall amazing event which was full of some great technical wrestling, some insane madness within the monsters ball and the introduction of some brand new characters to Impact Wrestlers. 2 names who really took the light from Knockouts Knockdown were Mercedes Martinez who won the number 1 contenders tournament, then Masha Slamovich who had a brilliant one on one performance against Deonna Purrazzo.
We have seen more of Martinez on Impact as she went into a brief feud with Mickie James leading into Turning Point (where she had her #1 contender shot). Every match and promo that we’ve had from Martinez has always been top notch, for anyone to saw that she’s reached her peak needs to watch what she’s been doing recently, you can tell there is so much more left in the tank for her to give on Impact.
Masha also shined incredibly brightly (so much so that Impact offered her a contract at Knockouts Knockdown), however unlike Martinez, we’ve not seen Masha since Knockouts Knockdown. With the styles that both women work there could very easily be a kind of “teacher and student” team. Both knockouts work a grappling and mat based style of wrestling, yet both have very different styles when it comes to charisma. This could make a very interesting team and also from what we’ve seen, a very dangerous one.
