John Cena Announces He'll Retire From the WWE in 2025

The legendary career of John Cena looks like its coming to an end…. in 2025. Cena is my favorite wrestler of all time and without a doubt one of the Mount Rushmore’s of wrestling history. The cool thing about this being his last run is, he’s going to do a FULL run starting with the Royal Rumble in 2025 which is going to be awesome. Ever since the news broke of his retirement I have been thinking about all the feuds Cena has had over the years and the feuds he has yet to have. Which is what this article is all about. There were a few absences from my list such as Carmelo Hayes, Cody Rhodes(we really don’t need this feud), Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar and much more. TONS of possibilites here. We all have dream matches and feuds we want to see Cena in and this is my top 5 feuds/matches we need before the GOAT hangs up the jorts for the last time.

5.) John Cena vs AJ Styles

A nice throwback feud here. When AJ first burst onto the scene in WWE, Cena was the first opponent threw his way and these guys were magical in the ring together. They had some of the best matches I’ve seen either have and their was even “good” mic work from Styles in these feuds (I kid, kinda). In all seriousness with the little time Cena’s got left this would be a great feud to revisit so we can get another couple classic matches out of two of the best to lace up their boots.

4.) John Cena vs Uncle Howdy

This one might just be me but I need it in my veins. At this point we still don’t know what the Wyatt Sicks is or is going to be but one would have to think that they will wrestle at some point. This one makes too much sense to not happen at some point especially given the history between Bray Wyatt and John Cena. This would be one of those instances where Cena can help get Howdy and crew over by Howdy defeating Cena in some capacity. A lot of people won’t agree with this one but as a die hard Bray Wyatt and John Cena fan this match would be a site to see.

3.) John Cena vs Gunther

This is a match we have yet to see and it’s one we HAVE to get before Cena hangs it up. Outside of the Bloodline and Cody I don’t know if there has been anyone booked better and stronger than Gunther. Gunther brought back relevance to the once forgotten IC Championship while putting on classic after classic. Cena/Gunther at Wrestlemania for John’s chance to get his record breaking 17th title reign would be epic. Hell just a singles match between the two would be good enough for me as long as we get at least one match between the two.

2.) John Cena vs CM Punk

Obvious especially after Money in the Bank right? Punk even alluded to the fact that he wants one more run at Cena before he goes so if I were a betting man (I am) I bet this happens and it’s going to cook. We all remember the epic feud between these two from the “Summer of Punk” and the classic Money in the Bank match they had. The story here writes itself. The crazy thing to me still is the fact I never thought Punk would come back to WWE, let alone their be a chance for these to wrestle each other again. WWE let’s take advantage of this and run this feud back just one more time.

1.) John Cena vs Randy Orton

This should be his last match. Without a doubt. You can tell me Cena’s biggest rival over the years has been Styles, Edge, Batista, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, The Rock but no bigger rival was their during Cena’s career than Randy Orton. These two feuded for YEARS. It’s been quite a long time since these two have feuded and WWE needs to get it done because with Orton’s recent history of injuries you don’t want to miss this opportunity. These two have the ultimate respect for each other and all wrestling fans can agree this is one feud we must have before the legendary John Cena retires.
