Taking place in Austin, Texas’s H-E-B Arena, this saw multiple championship matches and further build going forward to eventual showdowns at AEW’s next PPV event. The main attraction was the delayed Coffin Match as Darby Allin and Ethan Page closed the show in their macabre stipulation bout. This special edition of Dynamite is week 1 of Fyter Fest.

Jon Moxley defeated The Elite member ‘Machine Gun’ Karl Anderson to retain his IWGP United States. This was not Mox’s first defense of his belt on Dynamite within the last few months as he put it up a couple of months ago in a bout with New Japan legend Yugi Nagata.

After the ex-AEW World champion defeated Anderson, it was announced he would face another NJPW star: Lance Archer. ‘The Murderhawk Monster’ is an ex-IWGP US champion having won the belt once vacated by previous titleholder Moxley. Archer then lost the belt to the once-Dean Ambrose after a single defense and 82 days. Moxley has held the belt ever since, having won it in a Texas Death Match and holding it ever since in a reign culminating to 558 days.

With this history in mind, AEW are displaying this match again but likely to a bigger commercial audience and on free TV with the same stipulation. A gimmick match famously fought in by the likes of Dusty Rhodes and Terry Funk, we have yet to see how All Elite Wrestling portray the match in a bout yet another throw-back to a more traditional NWA-style presentation.
