Lance Archer is Relevant Again (And soon to face Hiroshi Tanahashi)

Lance Archer came into AEW with a great deal of hype and mystique around him last year, debuting just before the Covid-19 lockdown, he soon became one of the MVPs of the early AEW pandemic era. He lost in the finals of the TNT title tournament to Cody Rhodes then won a battle royal but lost an AEW title shot to Jon Moxley and has been lost since.

Every now and again, Jake Roberts would cut a promo but Archer would do little, only a few weeks ago beating up an AEW nay-sayer or beating an enhancement talent.

He beat Moxley for the IWGP US title in the main event of Dynamite last week and this week defended it against Hikuleo from NJPW, who was accompanied by Haku. It seems AEW has reversed Archer’s fortunes as he now seems to have a direction as he is soon to take on NJPW ace Hiroshi Tanahashi.
