Dynamite continued its run on Friday this week, as we walk out of the other side of Sunday’s Double Or Nothing. It saw multiple tag matches that continued stories coming out of the PPV. In addition to multiple building-block matches, a number of promos took place such as one with new signee Mark Henry and the celebration of Doctor Britt Baker D.M.D.’s title win on Sunday.

ANDRADE!

In early March, the much-beloved WWE star Andrade was released by the company. A huge star in CMLL as La Sombra, he seemingly hit a glass ceiling in WWE having success but only in small doses. He was NXT champion, having some great matches against Drew McIntyre, Aleister Black and most memorably Johnny Gargano (a match rated 5 stars by Dave Meltzer, the first one for WWE in nearly 7 years). He did win the US title on the main roster and had many brilliant bouts against Rey Mysterio, even keeping his title through a suspension. After a largely uneventful reign, he lost it to Apollo Crews in underwhelming fashion. He was subsequently a common presence in the empty arena era, repetitively teaming up with Angel Garza as one of few tag teams at the time. He was taken off TV for a few months before his release. A release he asked for, eventually being granted.

With fans seeing his run in WWE and although not unsuccessful, saw it as a flop – a failure for someone of his talents. He signed with AAA after leaving WWE where the plans for a match versus Kenny Omega were set.

Mark Henry, himself a new AEW signee, was set to speak on his role in the company as an analyst on upcoming AEW broadcast Rampage. However, he was interrupted by Vicious Vixens member Vickie Guerrero who gained massive heel heat in front of the live audience. She introduced AEW’s newest signing: Andrade El Idolo. He subsequently made a short yet impactful promo about his future in AEW and how he was going to take over the roster. He really felt like a huge deal, now picking up Guerrero as a manager. We all look forward to what he next gets up to in All Elite Wrestling.
