5 Takeaways from AEW Dynamite (June 4th 2021)
We look at what we learned from Dynamite (June 4th).
Matt Hardy vs Christian Cage?
After Christian Cage and Jungle Boy defeated Matt Hardy’s stablemates Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy, ‘Big Money’ Matt Hardy hit Christian with a Twist of Fate.
This feud has been subtly taking place for years, although not so direct between the duo. Team EC (Edge and Christian) battled The Hardy Boyz across many years in the WWF, memorably facing off at 1999’s No Mercy and Unforgiven 2000 amongst others. They also of course had legendary bouts alongside other tag team The Dudley Boyz in a feud that invented the much-admired Tables, Ladders and Chairs match type.
This attack seemingly indicates the start of Christian’s move from fighting faction to faction as he drifts from Team Taz to The Hardy Family Office. This means we could perhaps see Cage take on Matt on PPV whilst Edge’s former partner takes on other members of the group such as Private Party and The Butcher & The Blade.
Although often feuds between older wrestlers are looked down upon, these 2 are still youthful enough to make it work. They may be in what could be considered the twilight of their careers, but both can go in-ring and could create an interesting battle with a lot of history behind it.
