Impact Wrestling have a pretty big history of groups and factions, some incredibly successful but others not so much. Violent By Design is a faction that have all the tools to become one of the best factions that Impact have created in some time. Everyone in the group stands out yet they all click together perfectly, everyone has a menacing presence, their in ring work never disappoints and the backstage segments are down right chilling at times.
The booking of VBD has been shall we say where the questions can come in as they can often come off as losing a little too often. This is what ended up leading to what we saw a couple of weeks ago with VBD turning on Rhino and seemingly kicking him out of the group. We will see this week the final decision on Rhino but it seems like it’s set in stone sadly.
While kicking Rhino out of VBD may seemingly be because Heath is returning, this also opens up a slot in Violent By Design that Rhino has now left. There is a whole roster of talent that could maybe fit into VBD and not to mention talent that could be on the way into Impact Wrestling. The extra beauty here is that VBD is a group that will cleanse the original version of you, then you will emerge as something new. Lets have a look at 5 names who could maybe replace the War Machine?
5. Tony Gunn
We recently saw Tony Gunn make an appearance on Impact Wrestling in a tag team match on BTI, his partner was Kal Herro and they went up against the team of Petey Williams and Trey Miguel in a losing effort. Since then we’ve seen Gunn stick around as part of security, so who knows if this may lead to more down the road for him?
Tony Gunn has all the attributes you need to be a main player, he is very solid in the ring, he’s pretty good on the mic and although he comes across as rather plain (not in a bad way), however you can say that about many wrestlers and they find a way to make it work.
Impact and OVW are slowly building their relationship back up and to have someone like Gunn be a wrestler who bridges the gap, could be a big statement. He’s someone who’s held pretty much everything in OVW and been there for over a decade, so becoming one of those names that when you think OVW, you think of Gunn. He’s also the perfect person EY would want under him, someone who is accomplished but at the same time has much to learn, then factor in his style and charisma and it fits into VBD perfectly. Could VBD get 2 tickets to the gun show?
