With Clash at the Castle a little bit over a week away, it looks like we are in for one hell of a show.  They seem to be treating this event like they have the past few Saudi shows as well as some of their bigger staple shows.  Some great matches sprinkled throughout the entire show and a main event that puts their 2 biggest superstars of this era against each other.  But that’s not why I’m here today.

Roman Reigns versus Drew McIntyre

For the first time since our Tribal Chief got his hands on the Universal title over 2 years ago and then the WWE Championship earlier this year, a real threat has emerged.  Whereas most of Roman’s run has been built off of great story telling with his matches and overall body of work, this is the first time we as fans can look at an opponent of Reign’s and say, “this guy has a chance.”  Drew McIntyre is a really big problem for The Bloodline and the stronghold they have over the entire WWE.

If you couple the danger of Roman losing his titles with the new creative direction WWE is currently under with Triple H at the helm, these are very exciting times for wrestling fans.  We have recently seen the return of Karrion Kross as he was thrust into this main event program immediately, seeking out Drew McIntyre as his target.  Johnny Gargano, Dexter Lumis, Dakota Kai and Hit Row are more roster call backs that have happened which leaves the door wide open for others to return as well.  Matches are being given more time to breathe and the wrestlers themselves are being given more freedom to cut promos and pitch ideas which have all added to the quality of the product in recent weeks.  So, with all of that, we are going to look at some of the possible outcomes of the biggest match of Roman Reigns run as Undisputed Champion at Clash of the Castle.  Buckle up, these could get crazy.

Drew’s Wrestlemania Moment

The idea that most people have for this match is that it will be used to recreate the very moment that Drew McIntyre was robbed of.  At Wrestlemania 36, we saw Drew McIntyre finally reach the proverbial mountain top of WWE as he dethroned the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar to become the WWE Champion for the first time.  It was the biggest moment of his career, and it was well deserved.  But as all know, the only problem with that moment was that it happened during the covid pandemic and Drew’s accomplishment had ZERO people in attendance.  He couldn’t soak in the roars from the crowd.  He wasn’t able to hear the thunderous reaction that would have surely happened as he pinned Lesnar in the middle of the ring.  It was dead silent in the performance center and we all couldn’t help but feel bad for Drew in this very moment.

He would then go on to have his entire run as champion in front of no crowd.  Drew was one of the few members of the roster that actually carried the show on his back during the pandemic.  When crowds finally returned, his first title match would be as the challenger when he lost to Bobby Lashley at Wrestlemania 37.  The word deserved gets thrown around a lot in the world of professional wrestling by the fans, but this is one instance where it is justified.  Drew McIntyre deserves his moment and dethroning Roman Reign’s in Cardiff for the Undisputed WWE Championship would be the best opportunity to make right on that moment and it’s the scenario that I see playing out at Clash at the Castle.

Tick Tock. The End is Here

Karrion Kross has returned to rectify the wrong doings of his last main roster run.  Throwing a helmet on him, turning him into a gladiator and stripping him of the entire presentation that made him special was definitely a decision, but as we can look back at in hindsight, it wasn’t a very good decision at all.  Upon his return:  the mask and gladiator get up is gone, the entrance has returned, Scarlett is at his side, and he was put into a position that immediately shows the fans how big a deal he should have been the entire time.

Kross has his sights set on Drew McIntyre and even though he hasn’t attacked Roman yet, you have to believe he is a target as well.  As Kross put it, these are the two “chosen ones” that have been given everything while he was cast aside and left for dead.  The motivation makes sense and the intensity in which Kross has been bringing makes it very believable that he could honestly be a threat to either one of these guys.

With no match for himself at Clash, can we expect a Karrion Kross sighting?  With the two men he has his sights set on in the main event, is this the perfect time for him to strike and really cement himself as a danger to their claims as top guys?  A real possibility could see Kross showing up and taking both men out during this main event clash of the titans.  If not both, maybe just Drew after his victory to rob him of that moment yet again and become the biggest true heel in all of WWE.  This could be a great opportunity for Kross to establish himself amongst the locker room and the fans watching as a very real threat to all and send out the message that nobody is safe.

Money in the Bank

And now a scenario that could actually go hand in hand with the previous idea… a Theory cash in!

Picture this:  Drew beats Roman Reigns and becomes the new Undisputed WWE Champion only to then be absolutely destroyed by Karrion Kross.  As Kross leaves, “A-Town Down” hits and Mr. Money in the Bank himself, Theory comes running down with his briefcase.  He hands it over, the match starts, and Theory hits the ATL and pins Drew for the 1…2…3!

The crowd that was just showering Drew with adoration is now pummeling Theory with insults and boos as he has not only just helped in robbing Drew of his moment but also the title McIntyre has been so desperate to win back.  Theory not only becomes the first new champion under the Triple H era but also gets some of the most nuclear heat that the WWE has been able to generate in years!

This may not be the most likely scenario to happen, but it would definitely be the one I look forward to the most.  Change is the best way to really establish a new regime and there would be no bigger way to make a splash than to pull the trigger on this scenario.

Bray Wyatt

All the reports circulating around Bray Wyatt these days have all but confirmed that his return to WWE isn’t a matter of if at this point but just a matter of when.  With all of the other returns we’ve seen over the past month, this would be the big one.  It was a shock when he was released, and the fans have been impatiently waiting for Bray’s next move.

A return of this magnitude would need to have a huge impact and if we were to take a trip down memory lane, Roman won the Universal Title from The Fiend by pinning Braun Strowman.  There was never a follow up to that, so the history is there for a program between the two upon Bray’s return.  One would have to think this scenario would be reliant on a successful Roman title defense, which isn’t completely out of the question.  And with the list of challengers getting thinner and thinner as the months go by, it might be the best time to LET HIM IN.

Roman Conquers Again

Is it possible that we end another premium live event with a shot of Roman Reign’s holding both titles in the air as the show goes off the air?

The fans are divided on this one.  We have the one side that has grown tired of Roman’s reign and would love nothing more than to see it come to an end.  On the other side of things, the Tribal Chief’s fans have no desire to see this run end.  They would be more than happy to see Roman hold that title until he eclipse’s the 1,000-day mark which would mean another year of holding those titles and it definitely seemed like it was a real possibility during the Vince McMahon era.  With Triple H in charge of creative though, any future plans that WWE may have had with Roman, and those titles could easily be dumped in favor of the new vision, and this is exactly what makes Drew a bigger threat now than he was prior to the changes being made in the front office.

Roman Reigns is the biggest star in all of professional wrestling.  He has reached heights that have eclipsed those championship titles.  The championships no longer are significant to the man, Roman Reigns.  But at the same time, being the head of the table is the gimmick and without those titles I’m not so sure that remains true.  Are we too far away from his potential Wrestlemania 39 showdown against The Rock to start showing any kind of chink in the armor of Roman?

A successful Roman title defense here would be interesting to say the least.  Not because we haven’t seen it, because we’ve seen it plenty over the last 2 years.  But we are in a whole new ball game now.  It wouldn’t be crazy to continue to ride the coattails of your top guy but with everything he has already accomplished as champion, what else is there for him to do?  One would have to think that they have some interesting plans ahead to prevent the reign from going completely stale.

Whatever the case might be for Clash at the Castle, the match itself between Drew and Roman should be fantastic and I for one am looking forward to whatever may be coming up as we head towards Survivor Series.
