Britt Baker Uncertain Future in AEW Amidst Growing Tensions
Britt Baker, a cornerstone of AEW’s women’s division and a notable star since the company’s inception, faces an uncertain future as behind-the-scenes tensions continue to mount. Known for her standout moments and significant contributions to AEW’s growth, Baker’s journey has been met with increasing challenges lately.
According to a report by Wade Keller from PW Torch, AEW President Tony Khan has reportedly ceased booking Britt Baker for television appearances, amidst burgeoning frustrations. “Tony Khan is reportedly no longer booking Britt Baker for AEW TV, as frustration with her has grown behind the scenes. A recent incident was said to be the final straw, with sources describing her as increasingly difficult to work with.”
Baker’s reputation within AEW’s women’s locker room is reportedly strained. Sources indicate that “She might be done with AEW. At least the feeling I’m getting from talking to people in AEW is Tony Khan might have her in the same category as some other wrestlers where they just don’t get phone calls and don’t get called in to show up. There is a lot of frustration with her. I’m told – and I’ve heard this pretty consistently – she’s wildly unpopular in the women’s locker room. One person said no one ever wants to see her come back, speaking of the women’s locker room.”
Rumors also point to an incident involving her and MJF as a factor in her absence from TV, along with other undisclosed issues. “There was the incident with her and MJF and I’m told that factors into her being off television, but there are other issues with her that have come up. She has become increasingly difficult to work with in a general sense.”
Despite these challenges, it’s noted that Adam Cole, a fellow AEW wrestler and her real-life partner, is not implicated in these issues, indicating no professional overlap or influence concerning her current hiatus. Keller mentions, “I am told the Adam Cole situation is not stopping her. There should be no heat on Adam Cole, he has nothing to do with her not being on TV.”
As for her future, speculations arise regarding whether this marks a temporary pause or a more permanent shift. AEW’s strengthened women’s division may be less dependent on Baker, prompting a potential focus shift for TV time. However, whether this leads to lasting changes in her role or eventually includes reconciliation remains to be seen. Wrestling enthusiasts now wait to see if Britt Baker will return to AEW’s spotlight or seek new opportunities in her wrestling career.
