In the ever-evolving landscape of professional wrestling, both TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling) and AEW (All Elite Wrestling) have carved out their own identities over the years. Once a prominent player in the wrestling industry, TNA faced numerous challenges, including financial struggles and management changes, which overshadowed its potential. On the other hand, AEW burst onto the scene in 2019, rapidly gaining traction as a viable alternative to WWE, led by President Tony Khan’s ambitious vision.

Fast forward to today, and TNA has entered an exciting multi-year partnership with WWE, signaling a shift in its trajectory. This collaboration promises unique crossover opportunities that could reignite interest in TNA as it merges with the powerhouse that is WWE. Yet, it’s fascinating to consider what might have been had TNA sold to AEW back in 2018.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), TNA did indeed attempt to sell itself to Tony Khan in 2018. At that time, it was clear that TNA was seeking a lifeline, and the prospect of joining forces with the emerging AEW seemed like a promising solution. A year ago, there were also discussions with Scott D’Amore regarding a sale, but those talks ultimately ended when TNA declined D’Amore’s offer.

The idea of AEW acquiring TNA could have transformed the wrestling landscape significantly. With AEW’s innovative approach and financial backing, TNA’s rich history and talent roster might have found new life under a more assertive umbrella. Instead, TNA has chosen a different route with WWE, essentially embracing its past while looking forward to new opportunities through collaboration.

As wrestling fans reflect on the journeys of both companies, the question remains: what does the future hold for TNA and AEW? While TNA now has a renewed focus through its partnership with WWE, AEW continues to expand its own brand with innovative storytelling and a growing fan base. Would TNA have flourished under AEW’s banner, or has the company found a more fitting path by aligning with WWE?

The wrestling world is full of surprises, and as these two entities continue on their respective journeys, fans are eager to see how it all plays out. Whatever happens next, the desire for compelling wrestling content remains a common thread that connects both TNA and AEW to their passionate audiences.
