All Elite Wrestling (AEW) CEO Tony Khan, known for his role in revolutionizing the wrestling industry, recently had a surprising private meeting with Shane McMahon. Shane, son of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, has had a notable career within WWE, both as an executive and a performer. This development has sparked significant interest and speculation within the wrestling community.

According to WrestleTalk and Fightful, Khan and McMahon’s meeting took place in a private office at an Arlington airport on the afternoon of Monday, July 29, 2024. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful confirmed with sources that the meeting occurred, stating that Khan and McMahon discussed “possibilities moving forward.”

Sapp added that Khan had been “open” to talking with McMahon for some time, although they had never met or spoken prior to the emergence of rumors about McMahon potentially joining AEW. Khan, recognized for his openness to new opportunities, indicated that he had been “very open” to the idea of “using” Shane McMahon for several weeks. He had also expressed willingness to discuss opportunities with McMahon when the topic was brought to him backstage.

In public statements, Tony Khan has shown admiration and respect for Shane McMahon. During an interview on the Maggie & Perloff show, Khan mentioned that McMahon was “welcome to stop by at any time” and described him as a “really nice guy.” Additionally, in a conversation with Sports Illustrated, Khan articulated his “respect” for McMahon as an executive and professional wrestler, affirming that McMahon is “always welcome in AEW.”

Shane McMahon has been absent from WWE since WrestleMania 39 in April 2023, where he suffered a quad injury during a match against The Miz. By June 2024, Fightful reported that Shane was not under any contract with WWE, a fact that WWE confirmed officially.

The meeting between Tony Khan and Shane McMahon has undoubtedly set the stage for potential developments in the wrestling world. We will continue to provide updates on any further discussions or collaborations between Shane McMahon, Tony Khan, and AEW as they unfold.
