Brock Lesnar, the powerhouse athlete known for his dominance in both WWE and the UFC, is reportedly in discussions about a potential return to WWE. Lesnar’s name has remained in the spotlight despite his absence from WWE television since his loss to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023. Rumors of his return have been swirling, fueled by recent reports suggesting ongoing negotiations to bring him back into the fold.
During a recent Backstage Pass Q&A session, wrestling insider Bill Apter addressed the possibility of Lesnar’s return when questioned by fans. He stated, “I can’t tell you definitely yes but my inside people in WWE have told me they’re talking. That’s the most I know.” WrestleVotes corroborated these hints with a succinct yet hopeful comment, “I’ll give you a short answer. Yes,” adding to the speculation that WWE is considering a Lesnar comeback.
However, Lesnar’s return is complicated by his alleged mention in a legal matter involving former WWE employee Janel Grant. According to the Wall Street Journal, Lesnar was alluded to in Grant’s lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis. The lawsuit claims that in 2021, Vince McMahon used Grant as a “sexual pawn” in his efforts to convince Lesnar to re-sign with WWE. Although the lawsuit does not name Lesnar explicitly, it identifies him as the WWE star and former UFC fighter in question.
The allegations include McMahon allegedly instructing Grant to create “personalized sexual content” for Lesnar, supposedly arranging two sexual encounters that ultimately did not occur. While these allegations cast a shadow over Lesnar’s potential return, they have not resulted in any legal actions against him directly.
Despite the legal challenges, Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, who is instrumental in WWE’s creative direction, has expressed openness to the idea of Lesnar’s return, contingent upon clearance from WWE’s legal team. This ongoing legal situation has delayed any clear plans for Lesnar to rejoin the WWE roster.
Further fueling the rumors of a Lesnar return, references were made to him on the latest edition of Monday Night Raw by Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. This suggests WWE is potentially laying the groundwork for Lesnar’s storyline re-entry, should he receive the necessary approvals.
The possibility of Brock Lesnar reappearing in WWE brings both excitement and controversy. While his return could bolster WWE’s storytelling with new matches and invigorated rivalries, the legal controversies surrounding his name represent significant hurdles that need addressing.
As the wrestling world waits to see how these discussions unfold, the anticipation for Lesnar’s return is imbued with both hope and uncertainty. His presence in WWE once again would undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the narrative landscape, creating new wrestling spectacles while challenging WWE to navigate the delicate legal complexities involved.
