Bobby Lashley, a powerhouse in the wrestling world, is reportedly transitioning to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) alongside his former Hurt Business compatriots, MVP and Shelton Benjamin. While MVP and Shelton have already made their debuts on AEW television, Lashley has yet to make his official on-screen appearance, leaving fans eagerly anticipating his return to the spotlight.
In a recent discussion at K&S Wrestlefest, Lashley opened up about his experiences in WWE, especially during a challenging period characterized by the global pandemic. According to Lashley, “It was kind of a spit in the face. We were never in front of a live crowd. During the pandemic, a lot of guys sat at home, ‘I’m not going to do this or that’ and it was us saying, ‘It’s work. We’re going.’ We did everything. We were on half the show most the time. We came out of the pandemic and people started resurfacing, ‘Oh, I’m ready to work.’ What about the guys who were putting the time in during this dangerous time? We got overlooked. That was a little bit of a spit in the face.”
Lashley shared his perspective on how their contributions during the pandemic were undervalued, despite their willingness to perform and engage with fans during those uncertain times. He reflected on the disappointment of being overlooked once live crowds returned, expressing a sense of frustration that echoed the sentiments of commitment and hard work that went unrecognized.
“I think we could have come back and done some big things together. They just didn’t want us. Different strokes for different folks. Different people like different things. When the regime changed, the regime wasn’t too high on me at all,” Lashley added, indicating how management shifts influenced the opportunities available to him and his partners.
As Lashley prepares for a new chapter with AEW, fans of the “Hurt Business” are hopeful that he will have the platform to showcase his abilities and continue to make an impact, free from the constraints he felt in WWE. The move to AEW represents not just a fresh start for Lashley, but also an opportunity to redefine his legacy in unity with MVP and Shelton.
With these new beginnings on the horizon, Lashley’s reflections serve as a reminder of the challenges wrestlers face behind the scenes and the value of recognizing dedication and perseverance in times of difficulty. As AEW continues to grow, the integration of talents like Lashley, MVP, and Shelton promises to bring fresh storylines and electrifying matchups to wrestling fans worldwide.
