Impact Wrestling have a history of unique Pay Per Views, One Night Only and Impact Plus events. Many of these have been creatively named and often sometimes themed, however as great as the current Impact event have been lately, have they fully advantage of the different named events that they have on offer to them?

For instance Impact Wrestling this past week held Under Siege, a brand new Impact Plus event that had never been seen before in the history of the company. With a name like Under Siege and with everything that had been developing around the company over the past few months (such as Omega holding the World title, El Phantasmo just breaking onto the scene as a heelish character, There was a feeling that they could really turn this event into one where Impact literally came Under Siege from even more new faces. Or possibly the other way round, we have some new faces appear and balance the Under Siege to the other side? As it was though that didn’t happen so when you strip it all down, as an amazing a show as Under Siege was, was it different enough from the previous shows that warranted a brand new name?

Impact also had Genesis back in January and they brought back the super X cup for it which was great to see as the super X cup is a staple of Impact history going back to the NWA TNA days in 2002-2004. This was a fantastic 9 match card but the super X cup took 7 of those matches up, therefore would it maybe have made more sense to call this Destination X? It’s a little touch to try and make the Pay Per View name fit the style of the show? A small detail but it goes a long way.

Impact did it recently with Sacrifice, They had Swann and Moose both in the main event in a winner takes all match. Swann putting his Impact title on the line and Moose putting his TNA title on the line both sacrificing something to be in the match. This made Sacrifice feel that much more important as the Pay Per View tied in with the match because both wrestlers were in a sacrifice moment.

The two big Impact Pay Per Views of the year to me feel like they get it right, Slammiversary always feels like they are celebrating their anniversary and you often get a feeling this is a time where a new leaf is turning over. The show looks different also with it having a gold/yellow lighting rather than the Impact red and you generally feel the Slammiversary name fits the whole show. Likewise with Bound For Glory while over the years Slammiversary I feel has felt like it’s become a bigger show, Bound For Glory is still treated well enough that it looks different from the rest, the lighting is different again to a blue, you’ll often get surprises and you have an all round big Pay Per View feel to the show throughout

Impact have so many good event names they’ve created over the years that they could get really clever with placing an event next in line depending on the feel they want the event to have or direction they want it to go their creativity knows no bounds. There’s such titles like Lockdown, Unbreakable, Zero Fear just to name a few.

Will Impact make any altercations going forward? Or is it just a case of barking up the wrong tree? Let’s wait and find out, but they have plent of options if they choose to and we all know they’re pretty damn good when it comes to story telling so if anyone can fix the 2 together, it’s Impact Wrestling.
