In a recent interview with “SI: The Takedown,” Matt Riddle opened up about his career prospects and shared an amusing yet awkward encounter he had with Tony Khan, the founder of All Elite Wrestling (AEW). “I talked to Tony,” Riddle recounted. “I don’t know if he likes me. He seemed happy. I wrestled Zach Sabre Jr. in Chicago. He seemed cool about it. I don’t know. When you meet me, I’m very sarcastic. But when I met him, I was like, ‘Oh, you like that match’? But I said it a different way, and he looked at me all confused. And I was like, ‘Never mind, dude’. I just walked away. So that was my experience with that.”
According to a report from Fightful, it appears that this awkward exchange might be indicative of larger dynamics at play, as Khan has reportedly not shown interest in bringing Riddle to AEW. It seems that despite Riddle’s notoriety and in-ring talents, AEW has not seen him as a fit for their promotion for several years.
