Welcome to the wild world of Jimmy Bay Bay’s fantasy booking.  But just because it’s fantasy, does not mean I’m not here to bring some facts to back it up. Today’s agenda? Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and that Money in the Bank briefcase.  Let’s go!

The Start of it all

Over the summer, Finn Balor was in the middle of a feud that was seven years in the making with Seth Rollins.  Balor was looking for revenge on Seth for injuring him in the Universal Title match where Finn would be crowned the first-ever Universal champion but would have to drop the title less than 24 hours later.  As Finn Balor put it, Seth Rollins laughed in his face, making him bitter.  You can sense that Finn wanted to take that title away from Seth Rollins, not just so he could call himself World Champion but also so that he could finally get one over on Seth Rollins and remove that seven-year itch from his back.  After coming short at Money in the Bank and Summerslam, Finn would have to swallow his pride and move on.

During this time, Damian Priest would become Mr. Money in the Bank at one of those same shows where Rollins defeated Finn.  The tension started to build here between Priest and Finn as both alpha males looked to assert their dominance amongst the Judgment Day group.

Post SummerSlam

After Summerslam passed and Finn Balor was unsuccessful once again against Seth Rollins, Balor, and Priest were forced to tag together by Rhea Ripley and would end up winning the tag team championships in the process at Payback.  The following Raw, JD McDonagh would gift Damian Priest with a new briefcase.  A purple version that would change the title of Priest to Senor Money in the Bank.  The significance here?  At the time, JD’s attempts to join the group had been thwarted many times by Damian himself, even though JD is a long-time friend of Finn. Whereas this would not be where JD McDonagh would get the invite to join Judgment Day, this would be where the dissension between Priest and Balor seemed to come to a halt.  But why?  Was it because they became tag team champions, or was it something else?

Over the course of the next few months, if you have paid any kind of attention to the backstage segments in the Judgment Day playhouse, you will have noticed the old briefcase still looming in the background.  Each time, it has a different paint job but it is always painted like the Demon, Finn Balor.  Could it just be a prop? Sure, but in the world of professional wrestling, I have learned that nothing can be ignored.

The Theory Simplified

Finn Balor has teamed up with JD McDonagh to gift a new briefcase to Damian Priest to kickstart the plan. He then switched the contract out with Priest to show there were no hard feelings between the two.  Somehow between then and now, Finn was able to get that contract back and is now in possession of it, which would explain why he has been so reluctant to take a backseat for the time being.  When the timing is right, Finn can strike and claim his revenge on Seth Rollins and capture the World Championship in the process while screwing Damian Priest in the process and booting him from Judgment Day.

Why would they boot Damian Priest from Judgment Day?  His reluctance to accept JD McDonagh even though he had proven himself multiple times.  Priest tries to assert himself as the leader multiple times, even though they always claim that there is no leader and the many failures that Judgment Day has encountered when Priest was in charge of planning.

The overall idea behind this whole scenario?  A hot feud between two MVPs from 2023 that could possibly culminate at Wrestlemania for the World Heavyweight Championship once Balor cashes in to become champion.  Finn Balor and Damian Priest being given that kind of spot at the biggest show of the year is not only new and refreshing but well-deserved as well.

Tell me what you think.  Hate it or love it?  Sound off in the comments!
