John Cena has not been in the ring since his loss to Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania 36 last year in a Firefly Funhouse match. Cena was supposed to make his return for Wrestlemania 37. But due to travel restrictions he was unable to to do. Now, reports made it clear that Cena is still locked in for this year’s SummerSlam.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, John Cena is now free from his acting responsibilities for the Peacemaker, and he is a lock for SummerSlam. He is set to shoot for his new movie Argylle at Europe during August.. But, he is still confirmed for this year’s biggest party of the summer.

No word on when he shows up for television, but Cena is free of responsibilities for acting work at this point and until after SummerSlam. Cena vs. Reigns is locked in as the main event for the show. However, Cena is in a movie called “Argylle,” a spy thriller which will be shooting in Europe in August. It’s possible he could start after or end prior to the date, or even get a few days off

Earlier reports were speculated that Cena might miss this year’s SummerSlam due to his movie shooting at Europe. But, now it’s quite clear that we are set to have the Reigns Vs. Cena match at this year’s biggest party of the summer. Cena has been reportedly set to return on July 16th, 2021 episode of Friday Night Smackdown. This will be the first night when live fans are coming back.
