The NXT Repört: (06th July 2021) – Cole settles the score with ‘O’Reily
Well folks, here we are.
We start off with a Dusty Rhodes soundbite. Austin, Texas represent!
Tonight we have some great matches with three championships on the line.
Tag Team Championship Match: MSK (C) vs. Tomasso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher
Last week a fired up Ciampa and Thatcher approached the champs and made them look shook.
Ciampa and Carter start off and Carter forces Thatcher to be tagged in. But almost immediately all four men enter and C&T take control.
After a tag in Ciampa gets a near fall on Wes Lee but MSK’s team offense shifts the momentum again.
The teams end up outside the ring.

Olive Garden, KIA, Peloton: These commercials are kind of bland. What happened to the commercials geared toward wrestling fans?
We come back and they’ve made it back into the ring. The teams are switching back and forth in terms of control.
Honestly the way Ciampa and Thatcher were acting last week I assumed they were gonna come out and dominate.
By gawd! Ciampa lands two finishers including a double knee power bomb and Wes Lee still powers out of a near fall.
This match is pure chaos! After a cluster of finishers and holds Lee rolls up Thatcher to pin, win and retain.
I gotta say this was a good match. Good psychology, pacing was nice and the moves were entertaining. I give it a 4.23 out of five.
Gargano/Kross Face Off
William Regal and Samoa Joe are in the middle of the ring and beckon Johnny Gargano and Karrion Kross (sans Scarlett). Regal declares that Gargano will face off against the champion Kross for the NXT Championship next Tuesday.
Both men both promo it up to hype up their rivalry. To also prevent any shenanigans Regal says Joe will be the special guest referee.
Million Dollar Championship Match: Cameron Grimes vs. LA Knight (C)
Weird stipulation: if Grimes wins he is the Million Dollar Champ; loses and he becomes Knight’s butler. I want to be Shotzi Blackheart’s butler/slave. Serving to every diabolical and sadistic need of my mistress.
Anyways, Grimes starts off fast and in control. But Knight plants his foe in a power slam.
-commercial break-
More dumb commercials.
We come back and these two are trading shots. Grimes kicks out of two near-falls after two major finishing moves by Knight.
Knight gets frustrated and tries to take off with the belt. Grimes rolls him up but it’s countered and dear god we we Grimes’ butt crack! The humanity!
Knight DDT’s Grimes onto the Million Dollar Belt outside the ring and he barely makes the 10 count. But a wack ass ending leads to a Knight win.
Fun match. Shit ending. 3.6 out of five.
The 2021 Breakout competitors are introduced:
Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: Zoey Stark & Io Shirai vs. The Way(C)
Shirai starts off against Hartwell and then LeRae. Stark gets tagged in and they are taking control.
Hartwell tosses Stark on the ropes to take control.
-commercial break-
We come back and Hartwell is well in control. But Shirai gets tagged in against LeRae and the Champ is tenderized for Stark, who tags in.
It’s a back and forth. The Way submit both challengers but Io gets the upper hand but then LeRae German Suplexes Shirai off the top rope.
Wait a sec. The phone battery charger countdown hits 100% and it’s Tegan Knox! A distracted Hartwell is rolled up by Stark and we have new champs!
Knox goes after LeRae as she was injured by Candice. Good match and great interference. 3.9 out of five.
Hit Row celebrate Swerve’s North America. championship but I gotta cook dinner. Ain’t got no time for this.
Kyle O’Reilly vs. Adam Cole II
The main event. The main course. Final boss. Endgame. Climax of rivalry. No love loss.
They are technical (no surprise) to start off but damn.
-commercial break-
Just watch this match. Technical meetings like this are meant to be watched. I’m not a damn poet.
No wasted motion in this match. O’Reilly takes the early control. But a missed knee from Kyle let’s Adam reassert his control.
Cole hits a neck breaker which leads to a near fall. But O’Reilly turns the tables after taking a beating.
Cole has a hurt knee and damaged left arm. O’Reilly suffering from a stiff neck. Both are leaving it in the squared circle. Cole says something about O’Reilly’s, “stupid wife”.
It leads to some blind fury in which Kyle makes some mistakes.
-commercial break-
We come back and both men double clothes-line each other. Now add a hurt left knee to O’Reilly’s list of current ailments.
Both men aim for their respective hurt knees. They go back to strikes and O’Reilly tries a contortionist’s suplex for a near fall.
Kyle O’Reilly tries multiple submissions to no avail as Cole locks in his own figure four leg lock. Woooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
These two are running on fumes as they knee strike and kick each other. Outside the ring Cole hits a Panama Sunrise. He drags O’Reilly into the ring for the pin but his leg drapes the bottom rope for the break.
O’Reilly misses a top rope knee drop and Cole is able to get a two-count. Another knee to the back of the head though gets Cole the win.
Great match. 4.51 out of five.
