The NXT Repört: June 22st, 2021
Who will Adam Cole face tonight? Will creative split up Karrion Kross and Scarlett? What will I have for dinner?
Adam Cole vs. ?
Cole gives a promo and recaps last week’s action. He also refuses to pick an opponent.
Carmelo Hayes comes out to a quiet hush for the unknown wrestler. He yells, “ruthless aggression” and slaps Cole. This prompts the bell to ring.
Hayes comes out on fire but after a couple of impressive spots Cole nails him with a kick and changes the trajectory of momentum.
Adam Cole Bay Bay is just in total control as we go to break. Unfortunately streaming it on the Xbox doesn’t doesn’t work with the PIP.
Eventually Hayes hits a modified DDT to gain some offense.
The upstart even gets a couple of near falls.
But Cole outlasts the newcomer and hits a Panama Sunrise with a pin. I give it a 4.01 out of five.
The Way Promo
Gargano and Theory come out to talk smack.
But Pete Dunne comes out to say he is the true #1 contender to the NXT title.
Dunne twists Austin Theory’s wittle hand and the duo leave.
Women’s Tag Team Match: Zoey Stark & Io Shirai vs. The Robert Stone Brand
Oh my. Jessica Kamea. Along with her and Shotzi Blackheart I followed these two in the indies.
Aaliyah and Shirai start off the match and the Japanese superstar comes out swinging.
The partners switch off and Stark and the very tall and voluptuous Jessi face off.
Meanwhile The Way’s females stand on the rank as we go to commercial.
We come back and Aaliyah is in control. But The Genius of the Sky becomes a one woman wrecking machine.
Io lands a moonsault on Kamea for the pin and win.
The Way and González/Kai surround the victorious tag team until my bb Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon show up.
A melee ensues and Samoa Joe sends security in to break it up. It’s an interesting twist in the shake up for the women’s tag titles. Also I’m a pervert so seeing a bunch of cute women in a melee reminds me my old ass needs to get a refill on my Cialis.
Tag Team Match: Austin Theory & Johnny Gargano vs. Pete Dunne & Oney Lorcan
This is a fast paced start as the crowd trolls Gargano.
Pete Dunne goes after Theory’s hurt hand and works the joints like Cheech & Chong. The Bruiserweight just tortures Austin Theory to the fullest.
We go to break. I can not believe Christly Knows Best is still on tv.
We come back and Gargano is cleaning house. Theory hits an impressive springboard on Lorcan and gets a two-count.
Gargano gets the pin and win but Karrion Kross comes out and beats down Johnny Wrestling.
I give the match a 4.2 out of five.
Elektra Lopez vs. Franky Monet
The re-premiere of Monet.
Lopez holds her own so I’m glad this isn’t a total squash/jobber match.
Monet eventually wins further pushing up her up the roster.
Tag Team Match: Ever-Rise vs. Hit Row
I guess we have more enhancement matches.
Top Dolla decimates the Ever-Rise guys and Adonis leads the additional charge.
Martel is laid out and The Hit Row hit the Hit Maker and pin for the win. I give it 3.2 out of five.
Kyle O’Reilly vs. Kushida
The obvious match of the night pits two of the best NXT have to offer against.
Kushida’s Cruiserweight title isn’t on the line tonight. Just a good ol’ fashioned throw down.
A center ring traditional wrestling scrap starts off the match. It’s a total chess match with the holds and grappling.
The two trade submission maneuvers at about the top of the hour; all met with counters.
Toward the end of the program the two then switch to throws and strikes. O’Reilly testing his night against a champion before his showdown with Adam Cole. Kushida himself proving he can hang with NXT’s elite.
After a back and forth Kyle O’Reilly rolls up the champ to win and both men show their respect for themselves and O’Reilly heads to his sequel with Adam Cole at The Great American Bash with some momentum.
As the show ends Adam Cole shows up and beats down Kyle.
Security attempts to break it up as Roderick Strong beats up Kushida with the Diamond Mine in tow.
