The NXT Report: May 18th, 2021
Toni Störm vs. Zoey Stark
Storm looks to avenge her loss to Stark since Takeover.
Toni slaps Stark to start the match off and it pisses off the underdog. Stark starts off hot but Storm uses that big ol’ booty to smash her for into the steel steps.
Most of this match is dominated by Storm but a swift head kick by Stark slows the action down and leads us into a commercial.
We come back from break and Zoey has taken control and even had a couple of two-counts.
Toni Storm alas comes away with the win with an unknown move that not even Wade Barrett knew what it was. It was aiight. The match was fun and I’ll give it 3.2 out of five.
As the match ends Franky Monet (who will officially debut next week) interrupts Toni’s win.
Finn Balor vs. Karrion Kross Hype Video
We get a flashback to Stand and Deliver and their epic match and a preview of their upcoming match.
And of course the NXT title will be on the line next Tuesday, bitches.
Jake Atlas vs. Cameron Grime$
Grimes shows a promo video of The Million Dollar Man losing back in the day.
While Cameron lurks around laughing about the video Atlas gets the upper hand and starts assaulting him as we go to commercial.
As the match goes on we see Ted DiBiase show up in the parking lot. As Grimes is poised to finish off Atlas The Million Dollar Man shows up to allow Jake Atlas to roll up Grimes.
Silly gimmick, decent match. I give it a 3.1 out of five.
We go to a few promos and a Pete Dunn interview.
Alexander Wolfe (representing Imperium) vs. Killian Dane w/ Drake Maverick
Hey! It’s Rockstar Spud aka Drake Maverick!
These two guys are going at each other as Imperium is distracting Dane and attacking Spud.
As Wolfe tries to use a chair Dane spears him and gets the pin and win.
After the loss Wolfe is attacked by his stable mates and I guess he is out?
Tag team match: Legado Del Fantasmo vs. Chiampa & Thatcher
I was watching the match but didn’t do much commentary. I was feeding my dogs.
Damn, Raul Mendoza gets busted in the face and starts a bleedin.
We come back from commercial and Chiampa just marathon clotheslines his opponents.
Aliyah vs. Sarray
Hey! It’s Jessi!
I was a fan of nerdy Jessi.
Aliyah is totally dominating the polite Sarray. But the Japanese superstar middle drop kicks her opponent which leads to a pin and win. It was too short of a match.
Oooooh, we get a Shotzi/Ember video package. 😽
Tag Team Match: Hit Row vs. 205 Guys
To be fair Davari was one of the 205 guys.
Top Dollar and Adonis easily disposed their opponents.
Steel Cage Match for the North American Championship: Johnny Gargano (c) vs. Bronson Reed
Immediately Gargano tries to escape the cage, but to no avail.
Reed is tossing his opponent like I would toss Shotzi Blackhearts salad. The colossal man keeps the pedal to the metal. Gargano doea change momentum after a diving elbow.
We go to commercial as the champ gains momentum.
Gargano and his buddy Austin Theory double team the big man albeit through the cage.
Reed though Samoan Drops Gargano off the top turnbuckle and goes for the pin but only get a two-count.
Gargano tries to escape but is stopped by Reed. In turn Reed tries to escape as well but is stopped as well.
Reed gets his grill smashed by the gate door courtesy of Theory and Gargano’s attempts a pin but is stopped at 2.
Reed hits a splash off the top turnbuckle to get the pin and win. We have a new North American Champ! I give the match. 4.37 out of five.
