The Money In The Bank ladder match is always an exciting time as we can expect many risks to be taken and usually the first sign of the next big Superstar. But, which matches are best?
Since 2005, the Money in the Bank ladder match has been one of the most hotly anticipated matches on the WWE calendar. WrestleMania 21 was the site of the very first Money in the Bank ladder match, and five further matches took place at Wrestlemania until Wrestlemania XXVI. The match was a huge success that in 2010 it became its very own pay-per-view. MITB 2023 is set to take place this Saturday, July 18, 2023, so let’s have a look at the 10 best MITB ladder matches of all time.
10. Carmella Vs. Becky Lynch Vs. Charlotte Vs. Natalya Vs. Tamina (MITB 2017)
The Number 10 spot belongs to the first ever Women’s MITB ladder match which takes place at MITB PPV 2017. A fantastic match, but a pointless story. The match was overturned due to James Ellsworth’s interference in the match, Carmella then won the rematch on the following episode of Smackdown Live. But, the whole story of this match was pure waste of time.
9. Baron Corbin Vs. AJ Styles Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Dolph Ziggler Vs. Kevin Owens Vs. Sami Zayn (MITB 2017)
The Number 09 spot belongs to the Smackdown’s MITB ladder match which takes place at MITB PPV 2017. There were some bright moments in this match but it wasn’t the greatest of Money in the Bank ladder matches. It went on a little bit too long with the match just clocking in at under 30 minutes. Ultimately, Corbin prevailed which was not well received by the fans. Later, Corbin became the second-ever guy who lose the match after cashing in his briefcase. Another MITB winner was wasted due to bad storytelling.
8. Alexa Bliss Vs. Becky Lynch Vs. Charlotte Vs. Ember Moon Vs. Lana Vs. Naomi Vs. Natalya Vs. Sasha Banks (MITB 2018)
The Number 08 spot belongs to the Women’s MITB Ladder match at MITB PPV 2018. Alexa Bliss won the briefcase and Bliss cashed in her Money In The Bank briefcase less than 3 hours later, winning the Raw Women’s Championship in the process. The match also featured top names such as Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Sasha Banks.
7. Randy Orton Vs. Christian Vs. CM Punk Vs. Daniel Bryan Vs. RVD Vs. Sheamus Vs. Kane (MITB 2013)
The Number 07 spots belong to MITB All-Stars Ladder match at MITB PPV 2013. This match prediction was overturned not only with a match but with the performance of RVD and Sheamus as well, but also thanks to the unforgettable betrayal of Paul Heyman against CM Punk.
Surprisingly, Randy Orton won with a devastating RKO from the top of the ladder against RVD. His victory will then effectively lead to the title in the controversial Summerslam that same year.
6. The Miz Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Edge Vs. Evan Bourne Vs. John Morrison Vs. Mark Henry Vs. Randy Orton Vs. Ted Dibiase (MITB 2010)
The Number 06 spot belongs to one of the most shocking MITB ladders matches. The result was quite shocking as the Miz pushed Randy Orton off the ladder and grab the briefcase to become Mr. Money in the bank. He then went on to win the WWE Championship from Orton only before main eventing WrestleMania 27 with John Cena.
5. Seth Rollins Vs. Dean Ambrose Vs. Dolph Ziggler Vs. Kofi Kingston Vs. Jack Swagger Vs. RVD (MITB 2014)
The Number 05 spot belongs to the 2014 MITB ladder match which became the battleground for the feud between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, ex-teammates of the Shield. A successful mix of high flyers, specialists, and veterans combined with the violent desire for revenge of Rollins and Ambrose transformed after a few minutes of the match into a bloodbath made of brutal commercials, see some of the most devastating scale suplex ever seen.
However, Seth Rollins will win, not without a little help from Kane to knock out Dean Ambrose who was first declared injured and then returned to the ring with a touch of victory.
4. Dean Ambrose Vs. Alberto Del Rio Vs. Cesaro Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Kevin Owens Vs. Sami Zayn (MITB 2016)
The Number 04 spot belongs to MITB 2016 where all 6 men collided in a quality Money in the Bank ladder match at the 2016 edition of the event. Only Del Rio was the only one who triumphed in a MITB ladder match, just five years prior.
Nevertheless, they hit a home run with Jericho being the mastermind behind this match, his quest to prevail failed once more. Ambrose did not let this opportunity pass him by, and he retrieved the briefcase going on to cash in on his former Shield ally Seth Rollins to become the new WWE Champion.
3. CM Punk Vs. Carlito Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. John Morrison Vs. MVP Vs. Shelton Benjamin Vs. Mr. Kennedy (Wrestlemania XXIV)
The Number 03 spot belongs to the MITB ladder match at Wrestlemania XXIV. This is the first entry in the list when WWE didn’t spoil this match and made it a complete PPV. At Wrestlemania 24, the Money in the Bank Ladder Match had already become an institution and one of the most anticipated matches of Mania. there was a lot of anticipation for the names involved, all well or badly accustomed to using the highest rope and certainly inclined to put their bodies at the disposal of incredible spots.
And so it was, just see the devastating Moonsault outside the ring with John Morrison’s ladder in his arms or Carlito’s anti-gravity backstabber against Chris Jericho from the top of a ladder. and with a heart-pounding finale, CM Punk will not only become a specialist in this match by winning others but will definitely be launched into the main event for some of WWE’s best moments of recent years.
2. Daniel Bryan Vs. Heath Slater Vs. Cody Rhodes Vs. Justin Gabriel Vs. Sheamus Vs. Sin Cara Vs. Kane Vs. Wade Barrett (MITB 2011)
The Number 02 spot belongs to the SmackDown Money in the Bank ladder match at Money in the Bank 2011 and couldn’t have been any wider open. Former Corre/Nexus members Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, and Heath Slater participated. Kane, Sin Cara, Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes, and Sheamus sensed an opportunity to prevail.
Sin Cara put on an outstanding performance until Sheamus delivered a jaw-dropping powerbomb onto a ladder which spelled the end of his dream with him being stretchered to the back. Ultimately, Bryan won the briefcase and shot up to the main event scene since then.
1. Edge Vs. Chris Benoit Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Kane Vs. Shelton Benjamin Vs. Christian (Wrestlemania 21)
The Number 01 spot belongs to the first-ever MITB match which takes place at Wrestlemania 21. 3 ladder match veterans – Edge, Christian, and Chris Jericho kept the pace of the match incredibly high by inserting the ladders at the right moment for both Shelton Benjamin’s incredible high flying ‘spots and Kane’s power moves. The winner was Edge who then cashed in the briefcase in a spectacular way, interrupting, for the first time, the rise of John Cena.
