08. Randy Orton Vs. Triple H (Last man Standing match) – No Mercy 2007
The number 08 spot belongs to one of the most surprising nights in WWE history. Cena was set to defend his WWE title against Orton in a Last man Standing match at No Mercy 2007. But, Cena legitinately tore his pectoral muscle in a match with Mr. Kennedy and forced to vacate the title. WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon promised the WWE Universe that there would be “a new WWE Champion crowned at No Mercy”.
Mr. McMahon handed over the WWE Title to Orton and declare him as the New WWE Champion, but Orton got a challenge from Triple H. Triple H wins the match with a roll up & becomes the New Champion. Later that night, Triple was forced to defend his title against Umaga and he retains it. Orton invokes his rematch clause on the same night and faced ‘The Game’ in a Last man Standing Match. After a brutal encounter, Orton performed an RKO on the bloodied Triple H over the announcer’s table and reclaims his championship.
I always liked his match vs Cactus Jack at Bashlack ’04. That match truly made his career (and eventual ‘Legend Killer’ character as well).
