01. WWE Backlash 2004

The Number One spot belongs to Backlash 2004. Yes! I know, many people will not agree with me on this but I keep this PPV at the top of my rankings because this was the day The Legend Killer, The Viper and The Apex Predator was born. Yes! You guessed absolutely correct, it’s none other than Randy Orton.

The main event of the night was Triple H, Shawn Michaels & Chris Benoit battles for the World Heavyweight Title in their Wrestlemania XX rematch. The match itself was spectacular but they were not able to top the masterclass main event of WM XX.

But, the highlight of the night was not the main event, it was the barbaric encounter between a legend and a young upcoming superstar. Randy Orton defends his IC Title against ‘The Hardcore Legend’ Mick Foley in a Hardcore match. This match became the landmark in Orton’s career. The sheer brutality of this match still haunts us when Foley just slams Orton onto the thumbtacks. Orton retained his title after hitting the RKO to Foley onto the barbed wire bat. This match made Orton a bona-fide star.
