If there was ever a poster boy for underrated, Chris Kanyon is that guy.  Along with Dynamite Kid, Kanyon was a guy that was lightyears ahead of his time and was a catalyst in the evolution of professional wrestling’s in ring product.  Even when trapped with a horrible gimmick, Kanyon was able to get it over and make the Mortis character not only cool but beloved in the later years.  It was his in ring ability that did that.  His goal while rising through the ranks of WCW in his early years was to debut/showoff a new move every time he got in the ring, and he was successful in doing just that.

It is that kind of dedication to evolving the sport that made Kanyon so special.  What you see in today’s wrestling has a direct connection to what Kanyon was bringing to the wrestling business long before it would ever be appreciated.  It is a sad thing to think about when you realize that most people never truly appreciated his innovative mind until he was taken from us.  If you were to ask many of the wrestlers who grew up watching during his era who their favorite wrestlers were, you would be hard pressed to find someone who didn’t at least mention Kanyon.  Brian Cage gives a nod to Kanyon in almost every match he has.  The Young Bucks were good friends and have mentioned how much they try to emulate the creativity that Kanyon brought to the table.  You could have Kanyon #1 on this list and nobody could or would disagree, he was that damn good.  Who was betta than Kanyon?  Nobody!
