1. Ring of Honor is shutting down!!
This week’s comes to an end and we hear a very unfortunate news that shocked the entire pro wrestling world that Ring of Honor has released every wrestler from their contracts as they’re planning to reimagine the company. ROH claimed that this is temporary but but many fans believe that ROH is gone forever.
“The year will culminate with Final Battle in December, and we will be taking the first quarter of 2022 to work internally to reimagine ROH. ROH has the most dedicated fans in the industry, and we appreciate their loyalty and patience as we reconceptualize ROH.”
Later, reports circulated that ROH is selling their tape library. According to Justin Barrasso from Sports Illustrated, Ring of Honor tape archive are available for sale to the highest bidder. The early years of ROH include several major WWE and AEW stars in their formative years including CM Punk, Kevin Owens, Bryan Danielson, Cesaro, and even the start of Impact champion Moose’s career.
“The ROH tape library is also available and will go to the highest bidder. ROH has been privately trying to move the library (the Sinclair-owned archive from 2012 on) for more than a year. That includes the All In pay-per-view in September ’18, which was the precursor to AEW.”
Meanwhile, F4WOnline’s Bryan Alvarez tweeted that multiple sources from several wrestling outfits were informing him that the ROH tape library is not for sale.
From multiple sources in several companies, it does not appear the ROH tape library is for sale at this point.
ROH was founded in 2002 as a vehicle for RF Video to remain in business after the closure of their biggest partner, ECW. It changed hand over the years and eventually was purchased by Sinclair Broadcast Group in 2011. The future of the business is now uncertain, as is that of their massive video library.
