1. Lanny Poffo passes away
We begin with heartbreaking news: wrestler/manager Lanny Poffo died at age 68 on Thursday, February 2nd. Lanny’s brother was “ Macho Man “ Randy Savage!
He started wrestling professionally for All-South Wrestling in 1974, then competed alongside his father, Angelo Poffo, in the NWA -affiliated promotion titled Big Time Wrestling, that same year saw father & son win NWA Tag Team Championship.
Circa 1978, Lanny became a popular fixture within Father Angelo’s International Championship Wrestling (IWC). They famously ran in opposition to Jerry Jarrett’s Memphis territory-CWA. Poffo appeared for Bill Watt’s Mid-South Territory! Lanny eventually joined the Continental Wrestling Association with his brother Randy Savage.
1985/ Poffo found National success after debuting in WWF (WWE). He teamed with Pedro Morales. Fans will remember “ Leaping “ Lanny Poffo bringing frisbees into the ring & reading short poems written about his rivals. He also threw these frisbees into the crowd. Poffo soon became the villainous Genius. As this persona, Lanny faced WWF Champion Hulk Hogan on “ Saturday Night Main Event. “ Wrestling fans fondly recall his managerial allegiance with Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig.

2. Shayna & Ronda for Tag Titles at Mania?
WWE plans WrestleMania 39 match regarding the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Ronda Rousey will be in Hollywood concerning Mania. Reports stated that former SmackDown Women’s Champion “ will not be featured in a top match.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter claimed Rousey & Shayna Baszler is challenging Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky regarding their titles. There’s a twist here & isn’t this a step-down because of Ronda’a high-profile single title matches?
Your answer would be no. What if Rousey & Baszler win the titles from Damage Control? It adds to her & Shayna’s achievements. Many have wondered about the ex-UFC star’s future after losing the SmackDown Women’s Championship last year to Charlotte Flair. I say we might be wrong. Unfortunately, speculation creates such narratives. Other reports conclude altering WWE’s upper card involving its top female superstars. A rumor indicated Rousey wrestling Raquel Rodriquez at the Royal Rumble & WWE had removed the match from the PLE.
3. Roman Versus Sami at EC
Audiences visualized a climactic finish at last week’s Royal Rumble. Sami Zayn turned on The Bloodline solely, “ The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns. Zayn drew the fury of his former teammates. Jey Uso remained hurt by what he witnessed. He did not comply with the Undisputed WWE Champion’s instructions & left the ring. Afterward, Jey announced, “ I’m Out! “ when addressing The Bloodline ‘ on social media.
On Friday, February 3rd edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Roman asked Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa about Jey’s absence. He cut a promo on Cody Rhodes & Sami Zayn. The former Uso attacked Reigns. Afterward, Sami challenged Roman for the title. The Bloodline except -Jey attacked Zayn & leaves him beaten up. Roman accepts Zayn’s challenge & in Montreal at Elimination Chamber on Saturday, February 18th.
4. 2 Chamber Matches
We now know of two Elimination Chamber matches for WWE’s Feb. 18th premium live event.
Austin Theory defends his United States Championship inside this unforgiving chamber structure against Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed & Johnny Gargano. That’s the wrestlers who have qualified so far.
Bianca Belair finds out who her new challenger will be for the Raw Women’s Championship after Elimination Chamber when Asuka, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriquez, Nikki Cross & Natalya compete for a golden opportunity. Only one spot remains in this brutal match.
5. Huge Triple Threat at Mania?
We have breaking news to share as it relates to WrestleMania!
The Ring General defends his IC Title opposite The Celtic Warrior & Scottish Warrior via Mania.
Wrestlevotes reports:
“ I’m told that while it’s not decided 100%, there are plans to feature an Intercontinental Championship 3-way match at WrestleMania: Gunther v Sheamus v Drew McIntyre. There are several supporters within creative that not only want the match, but they want it towards the top. TBD.”
