Where Are They Now?: All Wrestlers Who Competed At WrestleMania 21
Trish Stratus
At the time, Trish was 3-months deep into a 447-day reign as Women’s champion before defending at ‘Mania 21. Despite its length, most of the reign saw Trish out injured. In this bout, Stratus mostly dominated but opponent Christy Hemme was crafted and defiant. Trish picked up the victory, keeping hold of her belt having hit a Chick Kick to retain.
The Canadian revolutionary for women’s wrestling is mostly family-oriented these days, dedicating time to her children and husband. Elsewhere, she has a yoga studio in her homeland called Stratusphere. She has also had roles in recent TV and films over the past few years.
Christy Hemme
A mostly inexperienced and quite sloppy wrestler at this point, Hemme did look out of place taking on arguably the greatest women’s wrestler in a major company at that point. Hemme was trained by Stratus’s rival Lita as Lita tried to aid Hemme to the title whilst the Team Extreme member was off injured. This match was hastily booked in its place with the Lita/Stratus storyline continuing afterwards mostly without Christy.
Hemme recently started working on KAYfABE alongside Gail Kim and Lita which is a scripted wrestling event based on true events. She also enjoys time at home with her husband Charley and her many children.
Lita
Mentoring Hemme, albeit unsuccessfully, was former 2-time Women’s titleholder, Lita. Having been recently injured, she gave up her place at ‘Mania 21, with Hemme effectively taking Lita’s role in the match.
Lita tried to open the KAYfABE concept but such as halted by a lack of funding and the Covid-19 pandemic. An animal lover and fond surfer, she splits her time between her home in Atlanta, Georgia and her house in Nicaragua. She recently made an appearance on a November 2020 episode of The Bachelorette.
