Where Are They Now?: All Wrestlers Who Competed At WrestleMania 21
Kurt Angle
Arguably the match of the night, this bout pitted 2 of the very greatest to ever enter the ring against each other in a dream match. The longest match on the card at nearly half an hour, it saw the submission specialist get the better of HBK with the Olympic gold medallist forcing Michaels to tap out after a lengthy spell in the Ankle Lock.
Angle retired in 2019, making occasional WWE appearances since – even after his 2020 release during the global 2019 Coronavirus pandemic. He is now another notch in the huge podcast empire for Conrad Thompson with their show being called the Kurt Angle Show in which the grappling machine talks about a whole host of topics from WWE opponents to his Olympic training to his love for milk.
Shawn Michaels
Having eliminated Angle from the 2005 Royal Rumble, Kurt re-entered to return the favor leading to this match. In the weeks building up, Angle tried to do many things better than Michaels such as win a ladder match, beat Marty Jannetty and parody HBK’s theme alongside old Michaels manager ‘Sensational’ Sherri Martel. In the match, Shawn survived a top rope Angle Slam and fought with heart but was forced to tap to the ruthless grappler.
Michaels still works for WWE as a top trainer in their Performance Center and as a significant backstage figure for NXT alongside pal, Triple H. He occasionally makes an on-screen appearance in order to further a storyline or further aid in developing a character.
