WWE/AEW Takeaways from the Week(7/31/22 – 8/6/22)
- Mr. Money in the Bank… Finn Balor! - November 28, 2023
- A Quick Fix: 3 Changes to Make with AEW Programming - November 4, 2023
- And The DEVIL is….. - November 2, 2023
We’ll make this intro short and sweet as I’m excited to jump into things. It’s Triple H’s time and the game is off to an amazing start. We have a lot to look forward to with Paul Levesque getting his hands on creative so let’s take a look at the 3 biggest takeaways from this week!
Monday Night Raw
Bayley World Order
No, that’s not the name of this new faction but I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to it but that doesn’t change the significance of this trio of ladies.
At SummerSlam, Bayley finally made her long awaited return… along with Dakota Kai… and Iyo Sky as well(formerly known as Io Shirai). This was how the show would kick off after an amazing match between Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair.
The target was Bianca and on Raw they would focus on Alexa Bliss and Asuka as well. It looks like we are heading for a 3 versus 3 situation. Bayley was a big deal prior to her injury and it looks like she hasn’t skipped a beat as she was a major focal point on this week’s show. It’ll be very fun to see how far this faction goes with the 3 very talented ladies looking to make a splash in this new era.
AEW Dynamite
The Dumb Bucks
Sorry. I couldn’t help myself but if we’re being honest, they would have to be really, really dumb to not see this coming.
Adam Cole, Fish and O’Reilly(Undisputed Era, not Elite) finally separated themselves from the Young Bucks this week. With Nick and Matt recently making amends with Hangman Page, it was only going to be a matter of time before Cole had something to say about it after his recent run in with Hangman and that’s exactly what happened.
With the trio titles now in play and soon to be decided in a tournament that will end at All Out next month, the timing of this is ideal. You have a great story with multiple layers to build this thing around and elevate that finals match even moreso when it comes down to Undisputed Era versus The Elite. And with the impending return of Kenny Omega looming, you could say that business really is about to pick up.
Smackdown
TICK TOCK
The end is near… but for who? That will be the question on a lot of people’s minds this week after seeing the return of Karrion Kross on Friday night.
I don’t think it was a surprise that we saw Kross and Scarlett return. I think the shock is that it happened so soon and where he immediately finds himself so quickly.
His debut under Vince Mcmahon was a travesty. Of all the NXT call ups, this was the one that baffled fans the most. A guy tailor made for Vince and he not only dropped the ball on him but flattened that ball and then set it on fire. In one night, one segment, Papa H was able to rectify those mistakes she thrust Kross right into the main event fold where he belongs.
He attacked Drew. He stared Roman down. The hour glass was set on the ring apron as he simply said “tick tock” as the show closed. Things just got a bit more interesting heading into Clash at the Castle.
