The WWE calendar continues to roll on despite the ongoing uncertainty with the COVID 19 pandemic. The wrestling action has constantly evolved over the past number of months, with all of the biggest events having to take place behind closed doors. That will continue to be the trend when Backlash takes place on PPV this coming Sunday. Here is the detailed match card along with the predictions that which WWE Superstar will emerge victorious this Sunday.
Date: Sunday 14th June 2020
Location: WWE Performance Center, Orlando
Where to Watch: WWE Network
Start time: 7 pm ET / Kick Off will start by 6 pm ET
EDGE VS RANDY ORTON
The match that has been labeled the Greatest Wrestling Match Ever. That’s quite a statement to make about any wrestling match, It’s like there’s no match which have been GREATEST WRESTLING MATCH till now as per WWE Creative Team. Plus, imagine the amount of pressure on both the Superstars. Especially Edge who, as pointed out by Randy Orton, hasn’t had a regular wrestling match for more than nine years. The odds would suggest that Orton takes the win, before the two of them likely face off for a final time at SummerSlam 2020.
Prediction: Randy Orton
DREW MCINTYRE (C) VS BOBBY LASHLEY FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP
One of the biggest matches of the evening will see the WWE Championship on the line as Drew McIntyre takes on Bobby Lashley. Their rivalry began a few weeks after Money in the Bank, when MVP becomes Lashley’s manager & claimed that the former MMA star wants a shot at the WWE title. However, McIntyre is unlikely to lose his title at this event as he got his long awaited title run just before few months at Wrestlemania 36. Lana will likely get involved in some way to cost Lashley the title.
Prediction: Drew McIntyre retains the title due to Lana’s interference.
BRAUN STROWMAN (C) VS JOHN MORRISON & THE MIZ FOR THE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP
First of all, WHY THIS MATCH IS EVEN ON THIS CARD..?? This match is like a main event of Smackdown episode. Instead of continuing the Wyatt Vs. Strowman feud which was quite interesting to watch due to the past relationship between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman, WWE Creatives choose to put Miz & Morrison into the title picture out of nowhere. Even a first time viewer of WWE will predict the match, it’s 100% Braun Strowman, there’s no chance that either Miz or Morrison will get a chance to get victory on this match. WWE should keep this match short & sweet like a regular Squash match.
Prediction: Braun Strowman retains the title.
ASUKA (C) VS NIA JAX FOR THE RAW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
This match should also be a formality, as Asuka only won the Raw Women’s Championship at the last PPV. Asuka won the title after winning the Money in the Bank. The next night on Raw Becky Lynch handover the title to Asuka as she announced that she is pregnanat. Nia Jax and Asuka have clashed on numerous occasions in the past, and it is clear that this will be a quick match. Asuka will retain the title and move onto her next challenger.
Prediction – Asuka retains the title.
JEFF HARDY VS SHEAMUS
The angle between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus has sparked a fair bit of controversy due to the real life incidents related to Jeff Hardy and many fans are saying this storyline as distasteful. Sheamus is tormenting Hardy by making it seem like he is drinking again and getting behind the wheel of his car while doing so. As per the odds, Sheamus will win this match and this rivalry will culminate at SummerSlam.
Prediction: Sheamus
SETH ROLLINS VS ALEISTER BLACK
Still this match has not been announced yet but definitely WWE will add this match just before this Sunday or maybe by this Friday on Smackdown episode. This rivalry seems to get interesting passing every week. Seth injured Mysterio’s eye and hosting the retirement ceremony of Rey Mysterio. Gaining a new and sinister persona of Messiah who sacrifice people by injuring there eye. I’ll go with Seth Rollins for this match and definitely there’ll be some sort of interference from either Mysterio or Mysterio’s son Dominique.
Prediction: Seth Rollins
APOLLO CREWS (C) VS ANDRADE FOR THE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP
Andrade took Crews out of Money in the Bank, injuring his knee in a United States title match in the lead to the PPV. Crews would come back to win the belt off Andrade, winning a major championship for the first time during his WWE run. Andrade earned a shot to get his title back by winning a triple threat match against Angel Garza and Kevin Owens on the June 8 edition of Raw. I’ll go for Apollo for the win because he just won his first title few weeks before.
Prediction: Apollo Crews retains the title
