We are finally at Extreme Rules!! That is a sentence you would not have heard me say at this time last year. Last year the event only had one “Extreme” match, and it ended with a ghost pushing Balor off the rope. We won’t have this issue this year. This card is STACKED!!!! Every match has a stipulation, and the stories in each match are solid. Let’s not forget that “White Rabbit” is also set to reveal itself tonight. “White Rabbit” has been the talk of the wrestling community for about a month now, and we all eagerly await to see who it is. I’m praying it’s Bray Wyatt, I’m pretty sure it’s Bray Wyatt, but I need to see him believe it. I will give my honest thoughts on each match as they go on and tell you what I think of this event in the article. I feel match placement will be key in who we see a “White Rabbitt” attack. It has to be during the main event, and he has to be the last thing we see as the show goes off the air. In my opinion, at least. Feel free to comment with your thoughts on the show. Let’s get to the show!!!!
The opening video was badass. Paul Heyman doing the voiceover was great. It really put over the Extreme Rules event. I can’t remember the last time I was actually pumped up for an Extreme Rules show.
6 Man Tag Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook Match: IMPERIUM Vs. The Brawling Brutes
This was the perfect match to pick to kick off the show. This match should get the crowd hot and set the tone for what should be a good show. Imperium and the Brawling Brutes are both super over right now, and everything they do in the ring is very very good. Imperium beat the hell out of the Brawling Brutes for damn near the whole match until Ridge Holland turned the momentum. It was looking like a squash honestly for a minute. This match was hard-hitting and lived up to my expectations. I thought Sheamus had Gunther before it got broken up by Di Vinci. I honestly didn’t know who was going to win this match. I actually struggled to pick a winner for this, I thought of this as a toss-up. The table spot with Gunther and Sheamus was so DOPE!! Sheamus is so damn good!!! Sheamus gets the win for the Brawling Brutes! This was a great match! Hell of a way to kick off the show. Whichever match follows this. Good luck.
Winners: The Brawling Brutes
It’s the birthday boy, The Miz. He yells at the Philadelphia Flyers mascot after he gives him a shirt. Then walks away. I’m guessing we see Dexter Lumis at some point.
WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship Extreme Rules Match: Liv Morgan (c) Vs. Ronda Rousey
Going into this match, I’m not excited. It’s the match I don’t give a **** about. But here we are. I feel a Charlotte return here, but we’ll see. This is brutal to watch. It was a very sloppy beginning to this match. Liv even messed up the fire extinguisher spot. Tons of botches by Liv. Ronda wins. This match was hard to watch. This was like an AEW women’s division match. Botchfest. Let’s get to whatever is next.
Winner and New Smackdown Women’s Champion: Ronda Rousey
Strap Match: Karrion Kross Vs. Drew McIntyre
Coming into this match I feel Kross has to get the win and that this is one of the matches the “White Rabbit” could get involved in. Let’s see what happens. Kross has such a badass entrance. It’s nice to finally see it in front of a full arena of people. Physical match between these two. Strap matches, to me, are so hard to make enjoyable. The only one that I liked in the past was Bray Wyatt vs Daniel Bryan a few years ago. Pepper spray from Scarlett to Drew to help Kross win. Scarlett was the X factor the whole match, and I’m perfectly cool with it. Kross and Drew both looked strong, and Scarlett showed how important she is. Solid match and Kross winning was the right call.
Another backstage segment with Miz. He’s apparently talking to his wife, Maryse, on the phone. Oh, damn, here is the Philadelphia Flyers mascot again. Miz yells at him that he’s on the phone. He tells Maryse he hasn’t been able to talk to Triple H, but he’s busy. I’m assuming it’s about Lumis. I’m sure we’ll get another backstage segment later.
WWE Raw Women’s Championship Ladder Match: Bianca Belair (c) Vs. Bayley
I am a fan of Bianca Belair, but man, has her title reign gotten stale? I really want Bayley to win and Bianca to chase the belt. She’s just so much better to me as the chaser and not the champion, but that’s just me. This was actually very enjoyable. I only say that because I’m still recovering from that horrible Liv and Rousey match. I don’t really see why Belair went over here. Especially after interference from Damage CTRL. To me, this makes Bayley and Damage CTRL look weak. It was basically three on one, and they still couldn’t get it done. Weird booking, but good match. On to the “I Quit” match.
I Quit Match: Finn Balor Vs. Edge
This match is one I am looking forward to. I feel Balor HAS to win here. A loss doesn’t hurt Edge at all, and I’m assuming Judgment Day gets involved and helps Balor. I want an AJ Styles heel turn SOOO bad. Let’s see what happens. The intensity of both these men during this match is fantastic. Edge is so damn good, even though he is getting older. This match was FANTASTIC! These two have such good chemistry. The Judgment Day involvement was expected but still very logical. Dominik beating the hell out of Rey popped me so hard. When they go one-on-one, it’s going to be fire!!!!!! BETH PHEONIX! I surprisingly popped for this. GIVE ME RHEA VS BETH!!!!!!!!!! IN MY VEINS!!!!!! PERFECT ENDING!!! That’s how you intelligently book a match. Match of the night so far. Let’s see what the Fight Pit has to offer. Oh yeah, and the WHITE RABBIT!!! Let’s go.
Another backstage Miz segment. Miz beats up the Flyers mascot. Then turns around, and there is Dexter. I need WWE to tell me why Lumis keeps doing this. I’m ok with it, I just would like to know why. Maybe we will find out during The Miz’s birthday celebration tomorrow on RAW.
Fight Pit Match with Daniel Cormier as Special Guest Referee: Seth “Freakin” Rollins Vs. Matt Riddle
Coming into this match, all I keep asking myself is “Which one of these two is White Rabbits’ target?” But this match is going to be great. The fighting pit was so cool in NXT, and I’m so glad it’s on the main roster. Daniel Cormier looks like Keenan Thompson on Wish. Cormier looks a little chubby to fight Brock anytime soon; just saying. First off, Seth Rollins is the best wrestler/entertainer on this planet. Don’t @ me. Riddle has had a fantastic run on the main roster since being called up. This was another great match. Riddle making Seth tap was unexpected but makes Riddle look super strong. I’m a huge Riddle fan. Big win for him. WHITE RABBIT IS BRAY WYATT!!! The perfect way to bring him back I’m on cloud 9. He’s back, and WWE won’t ever be the same.
Overall this was a very good show. Especially when you compare it to Extreme Rules from last year. The Brutes vs. Imperium was fantastic. Liv vs Ronda was awful. Bianca vs. Bayley was good, but I hope that feud continues with Bayley winning the belt. Edge vs. Balor stole the show. Kross vs. Drew was solid and did what it needed to do for both men. Triple H has completely changed WWE for the better in a short time. Everything matters, and the stories are so much better. BRAY WYATT is back!!! White Rabbit was amazing and led to the Eater of Worlds’s coming. I’m extremely excited about what’s coming next, and we have the RAW season premiere tomorrow. What a time to be a wrestling fan. I hope you all enjoyed this as much as I did. It’s not goodbye; it will see you later. Be safe, everyone.
