Picking a winner for the Money in the Bank matches doesn’t work. With too many possibilities, it makes sense to break down the odds of each individual in the match. First up, we’re gonna tackle the ladies edition. We’ll start with the ones who are not winning before tackling the biggest threats to climb that ladder and secure their destiny.
Losers:
Natalya and Tamina – Pretty easy picks here. They were both thrown in last minute to fill spots and they are already the tag champions. Neither one of them are top level talents in the women’s division so there is zero reason to believe they will get that extra boost with the briefcase.
Asuka – It’s hard to envision Asuka being on this side of the table here, but there are far too many things to overlook that eliminate her from contention. First and foremost being, she won last year. They gave her the reigns when Becky had to leave and through no fault of her own, it was a dud. She’s had multiple runs with the title and not once have they ever been able to book her as a must see champion. It sucks for Asuka, because she is one of the absolute best female wrestlers of all time but it’s clear that she’s not the one.
Alexa Bliss – I’ve always believed that certain talent shouldn’t win the briefcase because they do not need it to get to the next level and Alexa is probably the only one in this match that is on that level. Not to mention the fact that her character and the briefcase do not go together. It would look beyond silly to see her supernatural character walking around with a briefcase waiting to cash in for a title that shouldn’t matter to her. The title is what ruined The Fiend and would surely do the same to her. Speaking of Bray, I wouldn’t put it past his return during this match to exact his revenge on Alexa by abducting her once again. She’s out.
Liv Morgan – This is going to be the most unpopular choice here. Everyone loves Liv and they have been waiting for her to get the push she deserves for a long time. She has gained a lot of momentum heading in to this show and that is exactly why is not winning. The winners of these matches usually are the ones that surprise us the most. It wouldn’t shock me at all if Liv won. The tension with Sonya Deville leading up to this match was not done for nothing. There’s something there and Money in the Bank is the perfect place to plant the final seed to get this thing going. I expect some foolery with Liv, and that is why she is not winning.
Possible Winners:
Nikki A.S.H. – With a new character to a returning fan favorite talent, Nikki has been on a role as well. The only difference here is her not standing tall on the go home show. I think the briefcase fits with what Nikki has been doing, especially seeings as how the whole thing that started this new gimmick was her “beat the clock” victories over the two competitors competing for the Women’s Title. Nikki is a beloved wrestler and that character is sure to get over with the younger crowd. A win here gives those fans a favorite of theres a victory. It should pop and you would think that is what WWE is looking for on this night. She isn’t the favorite to win, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
Naomi – Of the women in this match that deserve the briefcase, Naomi sits atop the list. She is great in the ring and has always been with the people. Her presentation is different than the entire roster but for whatever reason, she has been sitting on the cusp of breaking out for quite some time now. What better time to give her the reigns put a fresh face in the main event scene? When I envision all the ladies in this match holding the briefcase, Naomi looks the best with it. She’s been denied any real opportunity for too long and with this, it is now in her hands and that is a great story that can be told. She would be my pick if it wasn’t for the last entrant in this match…
Zelina Vega – Zelina had a public dispute with WWE a few months ago that lead to her departure. She was rarely used for her in ring talents during that first run, with the end of it being the most promising for her. But things went sideways before it could evolve in to anything and she went bye bye. Why did she come back and what changed to entice her to come back? How about a briefcase that would eventually give her a favorable chance at a Women’s title run? She has great mic skills and is decent in the ring. I would also say that she is the only true heel in this match which would make for a dynamic that makes sense with mega babyface Bianca holding the title on Smackdown. All of those reasons make her a clear cut, odds on favorite to win the match.
