With the men’s ladder match, things are a lot more cloudy. A case can be made for each person in the match to walk away with the contract in hand. The build for this match has been better than the Women’s as each person qualified to be a participant and they have used their spot in the match as a driving force for matches amongst themselves. With high flyers like Ricochet and John Morrison along with the guy who seems to have no fear, Kevin Owens, you can expect a lot of high impact action that keeps our attention. I’ll do my best to break this one down.
Losers:
Ricochet and John Morrison – John has benefited from Miz being on the sideline, as he has got more opportunites to shine and showcase what he can do. At the same time, Ricochet has been given more chances as well lately and both have had stellar matches with each other leading up to MITB. With such a focus on those two being focused on each other, it doesn’t seem likely we get them coming out on top here. Ricochet has some more ground to cover before getting this kind of push that would be believable and John was just a part of a story surrounding the briefcase. Could they win? Yeah and it would be fun, but it’s very unlikely.
Drew McIntyre – A lot of people got really worried when Drew found his way in to this match. The story with Riddle and Orton was really intriguing and would have been a fun story to tell but they had a different plan. The worry was Drew was gonna find his way back in the title contention and after a year plus, the fans aren’t ready for that. Thankfully Jinder Mahal has returned and has set his sights on Drew. Dont expect Drew to win this match with Jinder looking for payback.
Seth Rollins – Much like Drew, we already know where Seth’s attention is directed. He has a one way ticket to a Summerslam match up with Edge. There is a scenario where we got this for the title, but after Rollins was left standing tall at the go home show on Smackdown, I don’t expect that now. Seth will give us some moments, but that is where it ends.
Possible Winners:
Matt Riddle – Bro in the Bank has a nice ring to it. Matt Riddle has become a big part of the show, with some nights being revolved around his story. The fans have gotten behind him as Randy’s partner and it wouldn’t surprise me to see WWE go all in on him and give him the win here. The only reason I wouldn’t see it happening is he has a date with AJ and Omos along with Randy coming up Summerslam. There is a long term story to tell there that shows us Matt rise through the ranks and earn his shot. That is what I would rather see, so amongst the 4 most likely winners, he is the least likely to walk away the winner.
Kevin Owens – Possibly one of the biggest fan favorites on either show right now, it would for sure pop the crowd. Of the four finalists, he is the only one that doesn’t need the briefcase but at the same time could really run with it and make it entertaining. His first title reign was cut short and he is long overdue for another chance with it. He’s had his program with Roman so I would expect him to move to Raw if he did in fact win it. I would say his chances are about as high as Riddle’s here.
Big E – It appeared that Big E was being groomed to be a top babyface in the company by years end during his IC Title reign. He was entertaining, his matches are fun and his charisma is through the roof. He is exactly what you want in a babyface. Wrestlemania deflated all of that momentum and he’s been floating around doing not much of anything since. Of the final four, he would be the biggest surprise due to how poorly he has been booked lately. Him winning the briefcase and moving over to Raw to avenge his brothers against Bobby seems like a path to take. Big E would be my choice to win had the next guy not had the year he’s been having.
Shinsuke Nakamura – Back in January, King Nak was robbed of his title shot after surviving the gauntilet and then getting robbed after receiving a beat down from Roman and Uso. It was never revisited. Since then, they have turned him face again(thank god) and gave him the fan favorite music back. It doesn’t seem like much but it allows the fans to connect with him and get behind him more and the addition of Boogs to that entrance only makes it more fun. They have also put the crown on him. He ended the King Corbin run that overstayed it’s welcome and Shinsuke got to be the hero. The fans have embraced King Nak and a win here might get a bigger pop than when he won the Rumble. They missed their chance against AJ when they turned him heel, now is the time to correct that wrong and that is why he is my favorite to win here.
