WWE Wrestlemania 39 Night 1 Results Full Results – April 1, 2023

Austin Theory (c) Vs. John Cena – United States Championship.

John Cena epitomizes the modern-day icon and identifies with sports entertainment’s version of the superhero. He blazed an instrumental path for these young stars. Hustle, Loyalty, & Respect are the essential creed of WWE talent. Cena earned validation from a Phenom in the Undertaker. His immense ambassadorship separates him from others. Winning WWE gold is notable, but granting wishes to children suffering from health challenges makes Cena a greater Champion & overall human being. He’s a five-time U.S. Champion. Could John Cena win his 6th? 

Cena reminded Theory about what caliber of star he is. Austin Theory stands prepared as it relates to any challenge. 

A victory over Cena raises Theory’s stock tremendously. The Champ represents their future. It only lifts his persona into future Hall of Fame discussions. That’s if he succeeds against a sure Hall of Famer John Cena tonight.

WWE United States Champion bit his ear & followed it up by suplexing Cena.

Don’t underestimate Cena, who suplexed Theory.

Austin Theory grew confident after establishing momentum. Austin Theory used his signature dropkick. Cena locks in the STF submission. The Champ once again bites Cena. 

The youthful Theory impresses.

He targets his idol & stomps the upper body. 

Theory countered the AA with an incredible DDT.

Mr. ‘All Day’ meet John Cena! It appeared the Goat came back until Theory applied the sleeper hold.

Multiple shoulders- tackles, slams & five knuckle-shuffle. Chad Patton gets knocked down. Cena’s STF makes Theory tap out. We have no official. The Champ low-blows Cena & A-Town Down finishes John Cena.

Braun Strowman & Ricochet Vs. Street Profits Vs. Viking Raiders Vs. Chad Gable & Otis – Wrestlemania Showcase Match.

It’s time for the Fatal 4 way Tag Team Showcase match!

Titus O’Neil is on guest commentary with Cole and Graves. Ricochet and Braun are out first, followed by The Viking Raiders, Alpha Academy and the Street Profits.

We start with Ricochet and Gable. All the teams come to the center and the mayhem begins! The Viking Raiders take control, punctuated by a Raknorak on Montez Ford.

Strawman tackles both Raiders but gets hit with a Chaos Theory German Suplex on Braun Strowman!!! 

Gable misses a top rope headbutt, Dawkins misses a somersault senton, Ivar misses a moonsault but Braun hits a top tope splash on Ivar for a two count. Otis hits a Slam on Braun. This leads to the tower of doom spot but with a delay on the suplex and Ricochet hits a cross body on Montez!!

Braun hits the train on the outside but gets hit hard by Dawkins. Ricochet hits an insane Shooting Star Press to the floor! He goes to hit Dawkins with one in the ring, but Dawkins gets the knees up and Montez hits From the Heavens to give the Street Profits the win!

Winner: Street Profits.

Seth Rollins Vs. Logan Paul

Paul and Rollins lock up and trade headlocks. Rollins floors Paul with a shoulder block. Rollins tries a Stomp, but Paul avoids it. After a series of leapfrogs, Paul tosses Rollins out of the ring. Rollins double-legs Paul and lands a flurry of punches. Paul responds with a Buck Shot Lariat. Paul punches Rollins in the gut. Rollins tries to fire back. Paul works over Rollins. Paul tries a pop-up moonsault, but Rollins moves out of the way.

Rollins launches Paul out of the ring. Multiple suicide dives by Rollins. Rollins Stomps Paul’s hand on the ring steps. After a series of reversals, Paul knocks Rollins out with a right hand. Paul clutches his hand in agony. Rollins kicks out. Paul tries a Stomp, but Rollins counters with a Liger Bomb. Paul kicks out. Rollins calls for the Stomp. The guy in the Prime bottle pulls Paul out of the ring. It’s KSI (whoever that is KSI and Paul set Rollins on the table.

As Paul dives off the top, Rollins pulls KSI onto the table. Paul crushes KSI. Rollins sends Paul back into the ring and hits. Pedigree. Paul kicks out. Rolling elbow combo by Rollins. Paul surprises Rollins with a GTS. Frog Splash by Paul. Rollins kicks out.

Paul tries to perform coast to coast but got super kicked in the mid-air by Rollins followed by the Stomp. Rollins wins.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Becky Lynch, Lita & Trish Stratus Vs. Damage CTRL – 6 Women Tag Team Match.

It proved an incredibly fantastic matchup featuring Hall of Famers & Champions mixing innovative creativity. Similar to a superhero novel.

The Fearless Daredevil, Blonde Bombshell, & The Man joined forces against a formidable opposition in Damage Control.

A brawl kicked us off. Bayley, Dakota Kai, & Iyo Sky executed a unified triple-teamed offense game plan.

Other highlights, DC isolated the ring.

Becky fought back, and Lita & Trish have not lost one step.

We saw Dakota Kai with an impressive showing. Iyo soared in the skies.

Lita & Lynch helps Trish nail the leg scissors that wipe Bayley & Sky on the outside.

Bayley caught Becky with her Rose Plant move until Lita made the save.

Lita hits a Twist of Fate, and Trish executes Stratusfaction. She follows it with a Chick Kick, then Lita lands a moonsault while Becky delivers Bayley via a Manhandle Slam off the top ropes for the victory

Lita, Trish & Becky win.

Winner: Becky Lynch, Lita & Trish Stratus.

Rey Mysterio Vs. Dominik Mysterio

We see a prison Dom vignette, where Dom is taken out of prison, in his ring gear, to be brought to the arena with a Police Escort to the ring. Dom arrives in the back of a Corrections Van. Dom is wearing his dad’s mask as he is bright to the ring in handcuffs by the Police. Dom is uncuffed and head into the ring. 

Rey arrives to the ring being driven to the ring by Snoop Dogg in a Low Rider to Eddy Guerrero’s theme! Mysterio makes his entrance and we’re about to witness history! 

Rey’s wife and daughter are Ringside as Dom takes Rey down, until Rey outsmarts his son and sends him to the floor. Rey and Dom exchange and Rey hits a Rana. Dom slaps Rey and sends Dom into the corner and whips Dom’s butt (LITERALLY!!!) with his belt!! Dom antagonizes his sister at Ringside, leading to Rey stepping in and Dom blasts Rey from behind and takes control.

Dom keeps the pressure on his father, punishing him and wearing Rey down. Rey counters, but Dom hits a springboard arm drag into a Michinoku Driver, and hangs Rey up on the ropes.

Dom trash talks his mom Ringside and it leads to Dom getting slapped by his mom! Rey takes control and tries to put Dom away. Dom takes control as Finn and Priest, the Judgement Day head to Ringside, leading to Dom hitting an Alley-Oop powerbomb on Rey into the bottom turnbuckle for a 2 count. Dom tries to hit the 3 Amigo’s, jt Rey counters into the 619. Finn and Priest interfere, giving Dom the advantage.

Legado Del Fantasma come out in their LwO shirts to even the odds. Dom hits the 619 and a Frog Splash, but Rey kicks out! Dom removes the top turnbuckle pad, and as the ref puts it back on, Dom grabs a steel chain! Bad Bunny takes it away and Rey hits a 619 and a splash for the win!!!! Rey celebrates with the lWo and his family as Dom is taken to the back by the Judgement Day.  

Winner: Rey Mysterio.

Charlotte Flair (c) Vs. Rhea Ripley – Smackdown Women’s Championship.

Rhea calls her shot after securing such a massive opportunity after standing victorious at this year’s Royal Rumble. 

Ripley still has unfinished business with “ The Queen “ Charlotte Flair. It dates back to WrestleMania 36 when Charlotte bested the NXT Champion.

That haunts the Judgement Day member.

Flair knows dynasties cause she is 1 & not merely due to being Ric’s daughter. Charlotte was an originator of NXT as a Four Horsewoman. Bow down and accept her sovereign greatness. Nobody changed the culture concerning Women’s Wrestling more than she, especially in today’s era.

Charlotte is a 14-time Women’s Champion-Wooo!!

Wait, Rhea bought time to grow into a consistent star herself. Ripley further manufactured similar dominance during her already magnificent career. This Raw, NXT UK & WWE NXT Women’s Champion offers brutality to any opposition. 

Who rewrites history tonight? What if Ripley rules SmackDown, or does the Queen remain in power?

An aggressive lock-up sets our tone for this title bout. Rhea takes Charlotte down. 

Flair shoulder tackles & sends her challenger over the top rope.

Rhea taunts Charlotte & gets chopped. Ripley powers the Champ into that corner. 

The No. 1 contender measures Charlotte up by telegraphing into the top turnbuckle.

Flair attempts to make a comeback and Rhea wears her down. The Aussie uses brutal forearm strikes against Flair’s back.

Ripley picks up SmackDown Women’s Champ after successfully German suplexing Charlotte.

A flurry of clotheslines from Queen Charlotte, how about a chopping party to Rhea? 

Flair dissects her opponent’s leg. Ripley rolls through a cross-body block into a riptide attempt that gets countered by Charlotte into a DDT & we have a near-fall.

Both connect with thunderous big boots.

With each sparring with forearms, Charlotte matches Rhea’s power.

Ripley throws the Champ off the top rope but escapes a close count.

Charlotte hits Natural Selection, yet Ripley survives.

In a pivotal moment, Flair misses Rhea & collides with the ring stairs. Ripley follows it up via a face-first slam. Charlotte German suplexed Rhea a few times. Rhea has her turn to throw Charlotte.

The big kick from Flair. Ripley is still in it.

Rhea stops a figure four attempt. 

Charlotte drops her after another big boot off the apron & a moonsault from the heavens. 

A Headbutt to Charlotte & Flair kicks out of the Riptide. 

Charlotte is in the prison lock submission ( Texas Clover Leaf). The champ breaks it.

Flair spears her, and Rhea escapes.

Charlotte applies her Figure Four, and Ripley grabs the bottom rope.

Rhea knocks Charlotte off on the ring post.

The high-risk Eradicator secures triumph for Rhea.

The Miz def. Pat McAfee

Miz runs into a spine buster. Miz tries a dive off the top but gets superkicked out of the air. Miz says he is done with this and tries to leave. On the way out, he jaws at George Kittle in the crowd. Kittle hops the barricade and clothesline Miz. McAfee lands a dive. McAfee pins Miz after a punt kick.

Winner: Pat McAfee.

The Usos (c) Vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn – WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship.

Jey wants to start against Zayn. Jey and Zayn lock up. Neither can get an advantage. Thez Press by Zayn. Jimmy pulls down the top rope as Zayn hits it, sending him flying out of the ring. Jey and Jimmy double-team Zayn outside the ring. The Usos take turns beating down Zayn.

Zayn manages to tag in Owens. Owens lands a dive. Owens frog splashes Jey off the apron, then frog splashes Jimmy in the ring. Jimmy kicks out. Jey gets a tag and lands a pop-up neck breaker. Owens kicks out. Owens tries a swanton but Jey gets his knees up.

Jimmy lands a Uso Splash. Owens kicks out. Jimmy misses a hip attack. Cannonball by Owens. Zayn destroys Jey on the apron with a brain buster. Zayn gets a near fall after a Uso Splash. Blue thunder bomb by Zayn. Jey superkick Zayn. Jimmy and Jey unload on Zayn with superkick after superkick.

Owens breaks up the pin and eats a superkick as well. Double superkick by the Uso to Zayn. Zayn kicks out. The Usos try the 1D, but Owens pulls Jimmy out of the ring.

Zayn sunset flips Jey. Owens holds Jimmy, but Jey kicks out at 2.9. Owens tries to powerbomb Jimmy through the announce desk. Jey makes the save. Jey and Jimmy slam Owens through the announce desk. Jimmy and Jey drop Zayn with the 1D. Zayn kicks out.

Jey badmouths Zayn before laying in a few punches. Jey crushes Zayn with a Helluva Kick. Jey holds Zayn up and yells at him about leaving the Bloodline.

Zayn surprises Jey with a corner exploder. Zayn manages to tag in Owens. Owens drops both Usos with Pop-Up Powerbombs. Zayn Helluva Kicks Jimmy. Owens levels Jey with a Stunner. Jey kicks out. Owens helps Zayn up, and both Usos get to their feet.

A four-way brawl breaks out. Owens eats a series of superkicks. Zayn gets superkicked off the apron. Both Usos land Uso Splashes at the same time. Owens somehow kicks out.

The Usos land another double superkick to Owens. The Usos set up the Super 1D. Zayn pulls Jimmy out of the ring. Owens hits a fisherman’s buster off the top. Jey hits the mat with a thud and crawls to the corner. Owens tags in Zayn. Zayn hits two Helluva Kicks to Jey in a row. Jimmy tries to make the save, but Owens cuts him off and hits a Stunner. Zayn lands the third Helluva Kick for the win!

Winner & NEW Undisputed Tag Team Champions: Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn.
