The 2015 MITB match consisted of a good mix of proven and new talent with Roman Reigns and Neville in there with veterans like Kane and Randy Orton. However, there were many things working against WWE in this match – many how the competitors were received.

In 2015, WWE were insistent Roman Reigns was the guy. He main evented WrestleMania and was pushed down fans throats more than a John Cena, Snickers and price of the WWE Network sundae as the company were really trying to get fans on the side of Roman. ‘The Big Dog’ was designed to be cheered here but the fans were not having it, making Reigns’s eventual screwjob at the hands of Bray Wyatt a source for cheers, not sympathy.

It’s also important to point out Sheamus won this match. Now, as good as he is, he was nowhere near the main event scene in mid-2015 as highlighted by a recent arse-based feud with Dolph Ziggler. Sheamus’s cash-in was also questionable as yes, it halted a Reigns WWE championship push nobody wanted it but the Irishman had just earlier that night lost a lower mid-card match to The Usos, Lucha Dragons and Ryback. Obviously, the pasty WWE titleholder lost it the soon after. The briefcase was ultimately wasted run that liked would have better benefitted somebody else.
