What’s worse than one cartoon MITB match? Yes, two of them.

Simultaneous to the men’s bout, the women’s match took place. If there is one thing this match did, it was make a point that Asuka was a huge asset in the early lockdown era. Now a wacky, crazy and entertaining talent, she stood out here and deserved the win here. She would go on to not cash-in, winning the belt by default after a pregnant Becky gave up the title – meaning neither men’s or women’s winner managed to cash-in their MITB contract.

However one thing this match also do was make Dana Brooke look unbelievably dumb. Like genuinely impacting the credibility of her character in a way they are still only recovering from now. Believing she’d won when clearly in the wrong room, being berated by an obviously off-location Stephanie McMahon and slipping over, it made everyone else in the match worse off by association. In the end, only 3 women made it to the top of the building where Asuka cost Baron Corbin for reasons only known to ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ herself.
