In 2018 the WWE held the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble in its history. The inaugural match saw some of our favorite legends come face to face with the current stars of the women’s division. The biggest problem with WWE is that sometimes they tease dream matches but never payoff those face-to-face moments or the small interactions we see inside a multi-person match like the Royal Rumble.
A whole host of women returned in 2018 to take part in this historic moment. The women we saw return were Lita, Molly Holly, Vickie Guerrero, Jacqueline, Beth Phoenix, Trish Stratus, Torrie Wilson, Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool, Brie Bella and Nikki Bella. Let’s explore those moments that created dream matches and who had instant chemistry with each other inside the squared circle.
10. Torrie Wilson vs Dana Brooke
Dana Brooke is one of the unsung heroes of the WWE Women’s Division and she deserves a feud that can establish her as the star she should be. Brooke is a strong, smart, capable woman who bucks the trend of what a ‘Diva’ should be, I am fully aware our women are now classed as Superstars, but that Diva moniker will always be there. But should it?
I think yes, the two aren’t mutually exclusive but despite all this Diva is still seen as an insult, and if we go with this and Dana wanting to prove herself why not build a whole feud around it. Dana being seen as a Diva and not a Superstar, with Torrie Wilson there to stick that knife in. Have the woman who was hired because of her look and transitioned into a very competent wrestler face off against the woman who has tried to shake that ‘Diva’ label her whole career. The story writes itself and would be a great way to bring back a fan favorite like Torrie.
