5. VBD dropping Rhino is not a great idea unless this is goodbye.
The stable of Violent by Design has been an unstoppable force in both the world title and tag team title picture. What was so great about VBD is how it reinvented the careers of Deaner and Rhino. But as of late, Rhino has been the weak link of the group, and this week, he was kicked out of VBD. This may not have been a great idea. Rhino has been that monster we have not seen in years. Before this, Rhino comes out as a nostalgic act to hit the Gore and leave. In VBD, he became the monster we knew and loved. Without VBD, Rhino could get lost in the shuffle and end up on the losing end of matches. Unless this is a way to write him off tv for contract reasons kicking him out of VBD is not a fantastic idea.
4. Best ways of using comedy to move storylines.
Swinger’s Palace has been a prime example of why comedy in wrestling has worked for the past year. Hearing Johhny Swinger’s outdated references have laugh-out-loud moments week by week. But along with the humor, these segments grow storylines, as we saw with TJP and Petey Williams. Later in the show, we saw another excellent comedy segment with All About Me with Tenille Dashwood. All About Me is so good that it could have been a comedy talk show on any network. Other companies should take notes on how comedy can help stories progress instead of digressing.
3. When will Trey Miguel get that main event push?
Looking at where his fellow Rascalz ended up, did Trey Miguel decide to stay in Impact? When he made his big return to Impact a few months ago and then feuded with Sami Callihan, it seemed like he was destined for the main event spot. Now he is feuding with Matthew Rehwoldt even though he did pick up victory but then was low blowed out of the ring to allow the Deonna vs. Mickie rivalry to continue. It seems like Miguel is floating around the show. He needs that big rivalry that takes him to another level.
2. It is not too late to bring back the Bound for Glory series back.
Looking at the talent involved in the main event and the number of free agents on the horizon, Impact has an incredible roster to bring back the Bound for Glory series. The round-robin format needs to make a comeback, and 2021 could be that year. This tournament catapulted the main event career of Bobby Roode and gave AJ Styles’ final fantastic storyline in the company. If this happened again, fans could see a brand new world title challenger that just needs that extra push to be in the main event.
1. Win or lose, Victory Road will be Ace Austin’s night.
Since the moment he arrived, the praises of Ace Austin have been non-stop. This Saturday
Ace Austin will have his biggest match to date against a legend Christian Cage. And the world is watching, and the pressure is on. These two men will bring out the very best of each other, and once this is over, the world will know that Ace Austin is no longer the future but the present. So could we finally see a member of the Impact roster hold their world title once again? We just have to wait and see.
