Impact Wrestling this past Saturday hosted their annual event Bound For Glory. This year felt much different than previous years given the amount of hype and various storylines that had been included for it. Impact themselves booked a very solid show and had advertised numerous promotions to be involved within Bound For Glory through the Forbidden Door.

With all of this occurring many fans went into Bound For Glory with pretty solid expectations. The card on paper looked like it was never going to disappoint and with the added addition of “what may happen” through multiple promotions being involved, it really made fans interested to see this event. If the main event wasn’t enough to sell this Pay Per View and culminate this year long story with AEW holding Impact’s World Title then there would certainly be something else that may occur for you to enjoy.

Even before the Pay Per View began (With Countdown To Glory) they hit the ground running and Impact defiantly felt like they hit a bit of a reset here. With so much happing on an incredibly packed show, lets look at a few things and points from Bound for Glory that really stood out (in my opinion) that may be good or maybe not have been? Either way we can only but see where Impact go now the reset seems to have been hit.

5. False Promotion Or Dirty Play?

Impact over the past couple of years have had a tendency to use the addition of surprises to add an extra layer of intrigue to their PPV’s. Normally this is something that has only been a staple of Slammiversary, however this year they decided to add this function to Bound For Glory also.

Back in August we began to get teases from Scott D’Amore with names like Buddy Matthews and Braun Strowman, the latter of which getting a real nod towards Bound for Glory by Scott Saying “We’re on the road to Braun For Glory.” Impact also had in their original promotional video a vignette of multiple promotions that they are currently working with. While not confirmed this also gave you a feeling other wrestlers could show up (We did already have wrestlers from AEW, AAA, NJPW and NWA involved but they didn’t feel like inter promotional surprises as they were “booked” on the show.

Sadly at Bound For Glory we didn’t really see anyone extra show up. We had Rocky Romero show up who has been close with the company for over a year now (so it was expected to me), The Demon from WCW and Melina made a return. With this it begs the question did Impact promote the show in a false way? Many people outside of Impact bought the PPV solely for this reason and may have left feeling a little cheated? If Impacted did this to get a better audience, then that audience may not stick around now. If they did it to get viewership to see their own Impact talent go off the air then it’s a rather crafty move, it may work depending on the individual but let’s see what the next few weeks hold?

  1. Issues with Braun Strowman were down to negotiations still ongoing. I think we will see him, I’m hoping, given the news w/ ROH & his history working with EC3 already growing rapidly, we see both of them incoming before EC3 is let go in December, the two of them standing up to The Good Brothers would be an instant classic 👍
