2. Long Term Storytelling To Perfection

For this entire year Impact Wrestling have done a fantastic job of building up Josh Alexander. He has been a great X Division champion who he himself has said is the king of the mountain. There were many seeds planted towards Option C when Kenny Omega was the World Champion and even when Christian Cage took the title it still didn’t halt Josh in his tracks.

Many felt this was the perfect end and would be the way to cap off the story of an Impact wrestler bringing the title home. While we saw Josh win and have that very brief moment with his wife and child, it was very short lived. Moose cashed in his Call Your Shot trophy and instantly took the title away from Josh. This has had a very split opinion and initially I didn’t like it however when you dissect it, this could be fantastic going forward.

Moose is a wrestler who has had the middle finger stuck up at him (storyline wise) so many times where he’s been so close but has never had the trigger pulled on him. Now Impact have said to Josh “You’ll be our hero to save Impact” (to which Josh did succeed) but Moose has stuck the middle finger back up to Impact and said “I’m destroying YOUR hero because you should have trusted me.” The cash in also makes beautiful sense as Josh cashed in to get his shot so Moose is not doing anything Josh didn’t do. Impact now have the chance to turn Josh into the top babyface in the company with this angle, plus Moose has so much history in Impact there are so many feuds waiting for him (Eddie Edwards, Sami Callihan, Morrissey right now maybe even a returning EC3)? Do this right and you have the future on your hands here Impact. Top storytelling here.

  1. Issues with Braun Strowman were down to negotiations still ongoing. I think we will see him, I’m hoping, given the news w/ ROH & his history working with EC3 already growing rapidly, we see both of them incoming before EC3 is let go in December, the two of them standing up to The Good Brothers would be an instant classic 👍
