Taiji Ishimori (2017 – 2018)
Coming into Impact Wrestling thanks to the partnership between Global Force Wrestling & Pro-Wrestling NOAH, Ishimori debuted in a 4 Team Tag match for the GFW Tag Titles, which would be won & unified by LAX (Santana & Ortiz), Ishimori would face but lose to, Desmond Xavier in the final of 2017’s Super X Cup in August. He would return at Bound For Glory 2017, getting a title shot for the X-Division title which he would soon take from Trevor Leigh 4 days later. Ishimuri would eventually lose the belt to Matt Sydal on January 9th 2018, who would eventually lose it to Austin Aries not long after he returned. Austin Aries would then unify it with the Impact Grand Championship (scrapping it to many fan’s joy).
In March 2018 Ishimori would leave Pro-Wrestling NOAH & soon sign to NJPW, where he is still currently signed, returning at Slammiversary 2018, now as the “Bone Soldier” & apart of The Bullet Club, to face Rey Fenix, Petey Williams (replacing an injured Rich Swann) & Johnny Impact (who would win the match). Taiji Ishimori would finish with Impact by August, his profile from Impact’s website remaining until November. There’s a lot of Japanese talent that have made frequent appearances to Impact but alongside Mari Fuji, Ishimori has been the most impressive or memorable (to me), an extremely hard hitting, high flying & unorthodox wrestler that can do it all & not fail to disappoint.
While we don’t know how long NJPW talent such as Fin Juice or Phantasmo will be with us, as soon as this story with The Good Brothers, Kenny Omega & Don Callis started brewing, the thought of other or former Bullet Club members coming around had crossed my mind, if this relationship with NJPW, AEW, AAA & Impact continues to grow, hopefully guys like Ishimori, Fin Juice or even Vikingo (AAA) can take advanage of getting more exposure in the United States. Looking at the current roster, Taji Ishimori could put on some unforgettable matches against guys like Ace Austin, Eddie Edwards (who he has a lot of history with in NOAH), Josh Alexander, Chris Bey or TJP.
