WWE surprised the entire pro wrestling world this week with another mass release. WWE released more than a dozen of NXT talents including Bronson Reed and Bobby Fish. Rumors are suggesting that Vinnie Mac is planning to rebrand NXT with new logo and new roster. Now, reports are confirming the same.

According to PW Insider, WWE is planning to rebrand NXT with a new format.

There has been lots of talk internally of major changes for the NXT brand including a new logo, new lighting, a focus on younger talents and a different format to the TV shows. This housecleaning tonight appears to be part of those changes.

During Wrestling Observer radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that NXT is most likely to go back as an ‘old school’ kind of developmental.

“‘No more midgets, no one starting in their 30s. They want people who can be box office attractions and main characters.’ Of course, box office attractions is one of those self-fulfilling prophecies.”

These reports made it very clear that they don’t want many stars and now they’re planning with like 70% of younger talent with 30% of NXT’s box office attractions like Samoa Joe, Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano & Tomasso Ciampa. Meltzer further stated that the latest batch of releases came at the order of Vince McMahon, Bruce Pritchard and John Laurinaitis, and that Triple H and Shawn Michaels had no control over them.

Now, we will have to wait and see how WWE will be changing up NXT and turning it into an old school developmental brand.

  1. NXT is looking more and more like WWE–Removing the good talented entertainers and naturally keeping the “””””””low salaried”””””” ones. It’s all about money folks. I hope Bronson Reed goes to the new exciting show AEW .
