Let’s highlight our top 5 pro-wrestling headlines.
1. CM Punk Wants to Return.
Fightful Select reported that Punk wants back into Tony Khan’s organization. Such rumored dialogue has foreseen him re-emerging again for All-Elite Wrestling. Based on close friends like Dax Harwood, it seems plausible for the two-time AEW Champion to make a comeback. Various news regarding supposed meetings between Punk and Khan continually dominate wrestling news cycles. Reportedly different plans are being discussed & including his willingness to work alongside The Elite Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks.
Fightgful also mentioned that Omega and the Jacksons were not fond of such an idea. It resulted in what happened at All Out last year. Things may change amid both Elite and Punk. Punk has not appeared with AEW in seven months. Naturally, also gossip spread about Punk returning to WWE.
His good friend Dax Harwood of FTR- said The Second City Saint desired to wrestle somewhere. Similar to what Jim Cornette proposed on his popular podcast. Harwood feels the big money match for AEW All In in London at Wembley Stadium would be a 6-man tag team match featuring FTR (Dax & Cash Wheeler) w/ CM Punk vs. The Elite. That takes place in August.
2. Is Drew McIntyre leaving WWE?
Following up on last week’s report, Are we seeing the end of an era? Do we honestly think Drew McIntyre leaves WWE? Lots of questions, but nobody knows the answers to them. Only McIntyre and WWE can truthfully respond.
The Scottish Warrior is utilizing his social media well during these speculative times concerning his wrestling future. McIntyre removed all WWE-related references away from his Twitter profile. He’s not appeared on TV since WrestleMania 39. Rumors began spiraling when news broke about his contract expiring at the end of next year. Reports stated neither he nor WWE has agreed to a new contract yet. Remember, other news had said there could be a health issue. It’s just speculation at this point.
3. LA Knight to get huge push/ possible contender for MITB.
LA Knight understands how to be popular with the wrestling audience. He checks every box one needs. Knight feuded with Bray Wyatt at Royal Rumble during a bizarre Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match. Knight has maintained his stellar appeal. Recently this breakout superstar had matches against Xavier Woods on episodes of Friday Night SmackDown.
Even if you missed SmackDown, What an incredible reaction the man received.
According to multiple sources, WWE higher-ups are thrilled with Knight’s performance & how fans react toward him. Another important note was LA Knight’s handling of the creative direction while facing Wyatt. Triple H is a big proponent of pushing Knight after WrestleMania. Internal conversations detail him as a top contender to win this year’s Money in the Bank briefcase. He’s left quite an impression on everyone. We’re excited for this superstar, Yeah!
4. Rey Mysterio Hair vs. Mask Proposal.
WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio wants to face his son Dominik Mysterio in a Hair versus Mask Match.
Mysterio said during his interview on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast.
“ Maybe I put my mask on the line against his hair, which is some lucha culture. If I lose that, I take my mask off. If he loses, he shaves his hair off. That might be interesting”.
We possibly see the match at SummerSlam.
5. Who’s going to be the new Impact World Champion at Rebellion?
Josh Alexander enjoyed a tremendous Impact Championship Title reign. Unfortunately, a triceps injury forced him to relinquish the belt.
Steve Maclin defeated Brian Myers, Heath Slater, & PCO in a 4-way matchup to be the new number one contender.
Steve Maclin faces Kushida at Rebellion for the Impact World Title on Sunday, April 16th, on PPV at 8 pm ET.
