Universal Champion Roman Reigns successfully defended his title against Rey Mysterio in a grueling HIAC match at Smackdown. Now, Reigns continues his feud with the returning Edge and both are set to face each other at Money in the Bank PPV. Rumors and reports are suggesting that Reigns will face Cena at the biggest party of the summer. But, what’s next for The Tribal Chief after SummerSlam?

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Drew McIntyre could be getting drafted to Friday Night Smackdown in August so that he can face Roman Reigns after SummerSlam. Reigns already beat the entire Smackdown locker room and he doesn’t have any top notch challenger except Seth Rollins. But, reports are suggesting that WWE is planning a Edge Vs. Seth Rollins feud for SummerSlam, so Reigns will be left with no challenger.

“Bobby Lashley retained the WWE title in the Hell in a Cell match main event over Drew McIntyre. The stipulation was that if McIntyre lost, he could never challenge for the title as long as Lashley is champion. This could easily build to a brand switch, which also gives Roman Reigns a fresh new opponent since he obviously needs one.”

Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre have already crossed paths at last year’s Survivor Series 2020 where Reigns defeated McIntyre with the help of Jey Uso and declare himself as the true champion of WWE. Both have pretty great chamistry together and the SS match was one of the best matches of the year 2020. It’ll be quite interesting to see McIntyre chasing for the Universal Title at Smackdown. Currently, McIntyre has been qualified for the MITB ladder match for MITB PPV.
